Summary of Primary Functions: Work to improve our production processes to make Tindall more efficient and cost effective by either developing and implementing solo projects or supporting existing projects lead by full-time industrial engineers. Also use intern experiences to cultivate skills necessary to move into a full-time industrial engineering role after graduation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.
Complete orientation portion of the Tindall training program including time in production, QC, field, and support operations.
Complete IE technical portion of the Tindall training program, including process analysis, work design, work measurement, work standards, work plans, routings, and labor performance reporting per Tindall standard practices.
Design solutions for process improvement based on data collected or supplied.
Lead process improvement initiatives in the production facility.
Initiate projects to address inefficiencies observed in the production facility.
Collect and analyze data to support creative solutions.
Report project progress and results to management, including the senior leadership team.
Develop strong working relationships with employees in all production departments to use as resources for future projects.
Create automated data reporting tools to keep management informed on production performance.
At the conclusion of the internship, develop and implement a final process improvement project, including the presentation of findings, recommendations, and results to senior management.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Job Specifications & Qualifications
Education and/or Experience: Must be pursuing a degree in industrial engineering (or related field) in an ABET-accredited program. Must have completed course work studying or have practical experience with work measurement. Bilingual skills in English and Spanish preferred but not required.
