Job Overview:

Company Overview:

MP Materials (NYSE: MP) is rebuilding American industrial capability for a new era of autonomy, robotics, and electrification.

We are the only U.S. company with a fully integrated rare earth supply chain—from mining and refining to advanced metal and magnet manufacturing. Our products include both the critical materials used to make permanent magnets and the finished magnets themselves—enabling next-generation technologies in robotics, automation, aerospace, transportation, defense, and energy systems. These materials are the foundation of physical AI—the convergence of computation, movement, and control.

We hire ambitious, mission-driven people who want to tackle complex challenges and shape the future of strategic industries. Our culture is rooted in teamwork, resiliency, and integrity, with a deep commitment to operational excellence and national purpose. MP is rapidly evolving from a materials producer into a leading U.S. manufacturer—and our people are driving that transformation.

Position Overview:

The Interface Coordinator is a critical member of the Capital Projects team, responsible for managing the flow of technical information and Requests for Information (RFIs) between MP Materials, its Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) partner, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs). This role ensures timely resolution of technical queries, alignment of design interfaces, and traceability of all formal communications across stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings deep experience in industrial project execution, a strong understanding of engineering documentation and systems integration, and a disciplined approach to communication and coordination. This position plays a key role in de-risking the project schedule and ensuring design and procurement activities proceed without delay.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end RFI process across MP, EPC, and OEMs, ensuring timely submission, tracking, resolution, and documentation of all technical queries.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for interface management between engineering disciplines, equipment suppliers, and construction teams.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive interface register and RFI log, ensuring traceability and accountability for all open items.
  • Facilitate technical clarification meetings and interface workshops to resolve design conflicts and ensure alignment across packages.
  • Coordinate with document control and engineering teams to ensure proper routing, version control, and archival of interface-related documentation.
  • Monitor interface risks and proactively escalate issues that may impact schedule, cost, or scope.
  • Support the development of interface management procedures, workflows, and reporting tools tailored to a fast-paced capital project environment.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, procurement leads, and construction managers to ensure seamless integration of OEM deliverables into the overall project execution plan.
  • Provide regular updates to project leadership on interface status, bottlenecks, and resolution strategies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing capital projects, with a focus on engineering coordination or interface management.
  • Proven experience managing RFIs, technical submittals, and multi-party coordination across owner, EPC, and OEM stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of engineering documentation, equipment specifications, and construction sequencing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project collaboration tools (e.g., SharePoint, Aconex, Procore).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, and technically complex environment.

Desired Qualities:

  • Detail-oriented and disciplined in documentation and follow-through.
  • Proactive communicator with strong interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 documentation standards.
  • Working knowledge of 2D/3D CAD tools and interface with BIM systems.
  • Team Player with a strong desire and willingness to Learn.
  • Leadership experience and/or contributor on various subject matters.
  • Self-starter, proactive management style.
  • Excellent analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Disciplined and Detail Oriented.
  • Emotionally Intelligent.
  • Excellent Verbal and Written Communicator.
