Job Overview:

Express Employment Professionals is currently looking for qualified Instrumentation Technicians that are responsible for the safe inspection, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and maintenance of electrical, electronic, and instrumentation systems. This role supports continuous and reliable operations while ensuring full compliance with all applicable federal and state mining regulations, company policies, and safety standards.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform safety inspections of assigned work areas at least once per shift, in accordance with federal mining regulations; additional inspections as conditions warrant.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, service, and repair electrical, electronic, and instrumentation equipment throughout the facility.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of instrumentation systems using portable test equipment and internal diagnostics to locate, isolate, and repair malfunctions.
  • Replace defective components and ensure equipment reliability and accuracy.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on controls, instrumentation, recorders, gas analyzers, automatic weight devices, and similar equipment.
  • Install new electrical and electronic equipment such as control devices, recorders, indicating instruments, SCR drives, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs) during new construction, upgrades, and machinery modifications.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards in work areas to eliminate slip, trip, and fall hazards.
  • Perform all work activities in compliance with MSHA, federal, and state regulations, as well as company policies.
  • Maintain a complete set of required tools within ninety (90) days of assignment (tool list provided upon hire).
  • Operate mobile equipment as required, following proper task training and safe operation guidelines. Employees must be properly task trained in accordance with MSHA regulations prior to operating equipment.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Dependability
  • Strong electrical knowledge and aptitude.
  • Basic knowledge of instrumentation or the ability and willingness to learn instrumentation systems and electrical repairs.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to learn control systems and programming.
  • Reliable safety and attendance record.
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision.
  • Ability to effectively give and receive direction.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of four (4) years of verifiable experience as an electrician in mining or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience using electrical meters, including megger testing of motors and cables.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot AC and DC motor starters, variable speed drives (VFDs), and power distribution equipment.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEM) systems.
  • Experience with pressure and flow transmitters, RTDs, and thermocouples.

Work Schedule:

  • Standard work weeks with rotating shifts
