Job Overview:

Our well-trained Won-Door technicians rank among the most skilled professionals in the construction industry - responsible for installing large and complex doors with mechanical, electronic and code-compliance aspects. As the face of the company, we rely on our Won-Door technicians to provide an outstanding experience to our general contractor and end-user customers while installing and servicing our life-saving fire and security doors. Our technicians are positioned near major metropolitan areas around the country and cover geographic territories generally extending from 100 to 250 miles from their home base depending on population density. Technicians work from their own homes and use their own trucks, with products to be installed shipped directly to the job sites. Jobs are dispatched to our technicians by a support team based at Won-Door’s headquarters in Salt-Lake City, Utah.

Compensation & Benefits Our technicians are members of the Local Carpenters Union #801 with attractive compensation and benefits negotiated as part of a collective bargaining agreement.  Your first 6-12 months you will be paired with an experienced journeyman for training.  Once promoted, hourly rates for journeymen increase to Union negotiated rates for their work location plus performance bonuses for completed work.  Our average journeyman makes W2 earnings of $100,000 per year, and the top 10% make more than $150,000 per year.

Union benefits include:

  • Vacation Trust Fund
  • Pension Fund
  • Health & Welfare Trust Fund
  • Healthcare
  • Vision Care
  • Dental Care
  • 401k Plan
  • Southwest Carpenters Annuity Fund

Our technicians are reimbursed for usage of their vehicles based on the optional standard mileage rate established by the Internal Revenue Service and are paid per diem rates to cover other travel expenses.

During their apprenticeship period our technicians live in the home territory of their journeyman trainer.   Once promoted to journeyman and returned to their home base city, our technicians average approximately 33% of their time on overnight travel assignments.
