Summary: This position involves working in a customer service, sales, sales account management capacity. Proficiency will be attained on the job, under the direction of your manager and in cooperation with other staff, including the acquisition of a working knowledge of our products and the application of our products. This is a technical position involving knowledge and application of knowledge to interpret requirements and develop design solutions. We would expect you to grow quickly in knowledge and ability to the point of assuming independent work in a period of 3-6 months. 

A Simplex – Inside Sales Engineer, is expected to be a "hands-on" professional who is actively involved in projects, involved in manufacturing and with customers and owners of Simplex Products. 

This is an all-inclusive customer service position and involves every aspect of customer contact and service for equipment sales, from the point of inquiry through successful use of the product in the field.


Duties:  

  • Immediately begin taking on small orders in order to gain better understanding of our business in order to quickly grow into more advanced projects
  • Respond to catalog and literature requests in a timely fashion 
  • Submit and review responses between customers and engineers; in particular working through the process with required changes
  • Interpreting product drawings and customer specifications; and accurately relaying those specifications to the engineering department; this will include a degree of technical assistance for contractors, engineers and sales representatives 
  • Daily conversations with customers relaying information and confirming specs and expectations are met. Communication via phone and email will be used extensively in order to ask the proper questions in order to make sure the exact needs of the customer is met 
  • Ensure projects are moving ahead according to stated deadlines and timeframes
  • Track down any missing information required to complete project; communicate any change orders immediately to effected departments 
  • Follow-up on quotes to increase conversions into sales orders
  • Presentation of seminars for professionals and participation in trade shows
  • Comprehensive service of assigned sales accounts

Requirements

Requirements:  

  • Technical background including education and/or experience equivalent to a 2-year technical degree; preferably in an electrical discipline 
  • Demonstrated successful oral and written communication skills
  • Problem solving skills and ability to work effectively under deadlines
  • At least 2 years successful experience in a technical sales environment
  • Physical requirements typical of an office environment
  • Computer skills including familiarity with MS Word, Outlook, Excel and Access
  • Basic understanding of AutoCAD a plus  
  • Must be able to communicate (read, write and speak) the English language clearly
