The Industrial/Mechanical Engineer – is responsible for developing, and improving products through engineering analysis, production methodologies, and manufacturing optimization. This role involves applying engineering principles to improve efficiency and designing manufacturing layouts, developing processes and automations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to refine products from prototype through production lifecycle.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Develop innovative manufacturing efficiencies.
- Create engineering drawings and develop work instructions for new products.
- Apply design patterns, design-for-manufacturing (DFM), and design-for-assembly (DFA) principles.
- Build and evaluate prototypes to validate efficiencies, ergonomics, quality, and manufacturability.
- Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and cost analyses for product designs.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, quality, procurement, and marketing teams during product development.
- Perform testing, data analysis, and continuous improvement activities to optimize product performance.
- Develop technical specifications, bills of materials (BOMs), and engineering documentation.
- Support product launches and transition designs into full-scale production.
- Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and company requirements. Provides operational leadership by directing and coordinating activities consistent with company goals, objectives and policies.
- A minimum of 1-3 years in a manufacturing company with broad functional oversight to include production/plant management, supply chain management, process engineering, operations, budgeting and Finance experience.
- Industry experience must include build-to-order products, preferably durable soft goods.
- Experience with successfully implementing a lean manufacturing system on the production floor.
- Collaborative, yet decisive leadership style, with a passion for both people and business.
- Experience working in nonunion environments.
- Strong interpersonal and high-performance team building skills, with ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence up, down, and across organizational lines.
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
- Experience in product development and manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as Optitex Marker, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA.
- Knowledge of prototyping methods, manufacturing processes, and material selection.
- Understanding of design patterns, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Experience in automation projects
- Rapid prototyping and 3D printing experience.
- Product lifecycle management (PLM) knowledge.
- Human-centered design and ergonomics expertise.
- Statistical analysis and process optimization.
- Experience with product testing and validation.
- Engineering drawings and CAD models.
- Functional and appearance prototypes.
- Product specifications and technical reports.

Haleyville is in the Northwest side of Alabama and is a manufacturing plant that employs approximately 125 to 150 employees. The administrative staff is in the front of the plant with offices available for each of the management employees.
