*Candidate must be willing to relocate to one of our training locations for a period of 1-2 years, including but not limited to Richmond, VA or Greensboro, NC. Exceptions to relocation and/or duration of training may be possible for candidates with 2+ years of outside sales experience in industrial process equipment (e.g. pumps, compressors, turbines, gearboxes, motors, blowers, agitators, pulsation dampeners, vacuum systems, piping networks, etc.).  



*Following training, candidate will receive an established sales territory in Kentucky, which will require residency in the Louisville area. This is a field-based role requiring regular travel to customer sites across Kentucky.

Summary: Our Sales Engineer Trainees are assigned to one of our branches and train under established Sales Engineers for 1-2 years. In this role, the Trainee will assist the Sales Engineer team by performing application engineering and providing quotations for a wide variety of process equipment. S/he will investigate our customers' mechanical problems and systems failures, then recommend the proper machinery and design to provide a solution. After a suitable period of training (typically 1-2 years), the Trainee will be given the opportunity to take on his/her own territory. Sales Engineers are allowed almost unlimited latitude for personal initiative and engineering imagination. It is a very entrepreneurial role, as the Sales Engineer is essentially the General Manger of his/her territory. Every day is different because the Sales Engineer is solving unique problems for customers across every industry imaginable.  


 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Calls on management representatives such as engineers, architects, or other professional and technical personnel at commercial, industrial, and other establishments and attempts to convince prospective clients of desirability and practicability of products or services offered.
  • Reviews blueprints, plans, and other customer documents to develop and prepare cost estimates or projected increases in production from the client’s use of proposed equipment or services.
  • Draws up or proposes changes in equipment, processes, or use of materials or services, resulting in cost reduction or improvement in operations.
  • Provides technical services to clients relating to the use, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Draws up sales or service contracts for products or services.
  • Provides technical training to employees of the client.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.



Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.


Requirements



Education and/or Experience:  Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year college or university; strong preference for Engineering, particularly Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Chemical, Electrical, etc.

Language Skills: Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. The ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees. Bilingual in Spanish is not required but a big benefit.



Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.



Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills, knowledge of MS Office Software (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook), and internet software.
