Wenger Corporation is seeking an Industrial Powder Coat Painter to contribute to the success of Wenger Corporation’s corporate strategy of providing an exceptional customer experience by preparing company products for application of powder coatings utilizing automated and manual equipment, conducting quality checks, and maintaining of equipment.  
 
At a minimum, you’ll need:
  • Ability to successfully operate:
    • Automated electro-static paint equipment (required or preferred)
    • handheld paint gun
    • hoppers
    • booth collection system
    • computer
    • ovens
    • vacuum cleaner
    • scales
    • dimensional measurement equipment (electronic and manual)
    • color measurement equipment
    • light booth
    • paint conveyor
  • Use a respirator and ability to successfully re-certify for respirator use annually, required

  • Ability to read checklists, paint codes, safety logs, and other documents, required

  • Basic computer skills, required

  • Willingness to learn and train in multiple areas, required

  • 6-months demonstrated success using electrostatic powder and liquid painting systems, preferred

  • Knowledge of basic chemistry, preferred

  • HS Diploma or GED, preferred

 
As a Powder Paint Line Operator, a typical day may include:
  • Preparing and coating a variety of surfaces including, steel, aluminum, and other shop coated metal, uncoated metal, finished hardware, accessories and other surfaces as specified or batch booth according to specification.

  • Cleaning powder coat booth and guns at the end of shift and/or during color changes.

  • Performing required quality checks including 1st piece, in-process, and final inspections.

  • Observing output from the processes (loading, pretreatment, painting, unloading, and packaging) to ensure conformance to product specification.

  • Performing Preventative Maintenance on equipment as required.

  • Masking product from paint by various methods.

  • Reporting machine breakdown, assisting in repair of broken or defective equipment, and assisting with the installation of new equipment.

  • Maintaining accurate paint inventory records.

  • Providing support to Line Operators

  • Maintaining a clean work area.

  • Plugging and masking of parts as needed.

  • English proficiency is required for this manufacturing position to ensure safety compliance and fulfillment of operational needs. The candidate must be able to speak, read and understand English in order to follow equipment instructions, understand safety protocols and respond to emergency situations. Strong English skills are also necessary for communicating with team members, supervisors and other departments to ensure smooth production processes and to maintain quality standards.

  • While performing the functions of this job, the team member is continuously required to sit, stand, walk, talk and hear. The team member is occasionally required to kneel, crouch, squat, bend, twist/turn and climb ladder/stairs. The team member is continuously required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate machines, equipment, tools or controls. Team member is continuously required to reach with hands and arms. The functions of the job include occasionally viewing a computer monitor and repetitive motion activities on the keyboard. The team member may continuously be required to lift, move, push/pull up to and over 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.
