Description

Northern Metal Fab is a versatile custom fabrication “job” shop where our painters are exposed to manufacturing of many diverse products. Along with custom fabrication and tooling, we specialize in air & bulk handling, commercial marine, industrial vehicles, and water treatment to name a few. We are all about variety and unique projects that provide challenge and versatility to each day.  An Industrial Painter at Northern Metal Fab can expect to be part of a team that will work on a variety of large-scale steel projects applying coatings to fabricated material while adhering to code requirements and guidelines:

  • Assist with setup and operation of equipment necessary to paint fabricated material as required by job specifications.
  • Use proper safety equipment, paint equipment, paint, and thinners, and assure that surfaces are adequately prepared for painting all operations.
  • Coordinates with shop supervisor and other personnel for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently, on time, and with no defects.
  • Performs other related duties, as assigned, to maintain a steady flow of products through the shop and to ensure an efficient and effective work environment.

Schedule:

Full-time, 4 days/week OT Available

Day shift: M-Th 5:00AM – 3:30PM 

Requirements

 Experienced painters are expected to:

  • 5 + years working knowledge of industrial paint, paint techniques, equipment, and metal finishing experience. Required
  • Hard working, detail oriented, high productivity 
  • Maintain the highest level of quality while working safely.
  • Read and interpret route sheets and blueprints.
  • Communicate effectively with Finishing Team, and co-workers.
  • Adhere to delivery schedule.
  • Maintain and clean and safe work environment.
  • Must be able to handle large structures with overhead hoists and forklifts.
  • Must be able to read and understand paint and coating specifications, able to prepare surfaces to be painted and capable of mixing paints.

The physical demands represent those to be met in a shop environment. In a 10-hour shift, an employee can expect to lift and carry up to 100 pounds, 1-10 pounds constantly, 21-50 pounds frequently, and 50-100 pounds occasionally. Additionally, the employee may occasionally have to climb, balance, kneel, crouch, or crawl, frequently need to stoop, push, or pull, and constantly reach for and handle a variety of items.
