Job description:Industrial Mechanic – 1st & 2nd Shift Schedule

1st Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM — 47.5 hours per week

2nd Shift: Monday–Thursday, 4:00 PM–4:00 AM — 46 hours per week

7.5 hours guaranteed overtimeTraining: Employees hired for 2nd Shift will train on 1st Shift for an initial period before transitioning to the 2nd Shift schedule.

Position Summary

Staffworks Group is seeking an experienced Industrial Mechanic to support the electrical, mechanical, and overall maintenance needs of our manufacturing facility in Pawtucket, RI.

This hands-on position is responsible for electrical troubleshooting, equipment repair, preventive maintenance, and maintenance of industrial machinery and facility systems. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting skills and experience working with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electro-mechanical, and PLC-controlled equipment.

The successful candidate is a self-starter who can work independently with minimal supervision, respond effectively to equipment issues, and help maintain safe, reliable, and efficient manufacturing operations.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties

  • Perform routine and scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment, industrial machinery, tools, and building fixtures.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and PLC issues on production machinery and perform necessary repairs.
  • Inspect, maintain, repair, and overhaul electro-mechanical and solid-state electrical equipment.
  • Maintain and repair electrical and electronic systems throughout the facility, including associated drives, controls, motors, and equipment.
  • Perform electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify equipment failures and determine appropriate corrective action.
  • Perform electrical motor diagnostics, installation, repair, and maintenance.
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems using hand tools and power tools.
  • Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation and ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications.
  • Clean, lubricate, adjust, and perform other routine maintenance procedures on industrial equipment.
  • Assist with major maintenance and equipment repair projects, including welding, electrical work, fabrication, and mechanical repairs.
  • Utilize basic machining skills, including tapping, drilling, Bridgeport milling, and lathe operations, when required.
  • Complete maintenance work orders, records, and related documentation accurately and according to Management instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe Maintenance Shop and work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and applicable PPE requirements.
  • Participate in required training initiatives and continuously develop technical maintenance skills.
  • Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned by Management.

Experience & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with industrial equipment maintenance, machinery repair, and preventive maintenance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Industrial electrical systems
  • Electrical motors
  • Hydraulics
  • Mechanical systems
  • Pneumatics
  • Basic machining
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Electrical troubleshooting and PLC troubleshooting/repair experience strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with electrical motors, drives, controls, and industrial electrical systems.
  • Basic machining experience, including tapping, drilling, Bridgeport mills, and lathes, is a plus.
  • Ability to read and understand technical language, equipment documentation, and maintenance information.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability.
  • Dependable, self-motivated, safety-conscious, and willing to learn new skills.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Ability to climb, stand, bend, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as necessary to perform maintenance duties.
  • Ability to work in potentially awkward and confined spaces around industrial equipment and machinery.
  • Regularly lift and/or move equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing more than 75 pounds using proper tools, leverage methods, and lifting/rigging techniques.
  • Ability to safely work around heavy machinery, moving parts, electrical equipment, and high-voltage systems.
  • Must properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working around machinery and when exposed to fumes, dust, heat, vibration, and other workplace hazards.
  • Hearing protection is required in areas with high noise levels.
  • Must comply with all applicable safety policies and procedures.
