Position Summary

Renfrow Industrial is seeking experienced, hands-on Maintenance Mechanics with demonstrated welding ability to maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and modify equipment and facility components at active industrial plants and manufacturing facilities. This position is primarily an industrial maintenance and repair role—not a new-construction installation position—and combines mechanical troubleshooting, preventive and breakdown maintenance, and qualified repair/fabrication welding. The ideal candidate can independently diagnose mechanical problems, safely restore equipment to service, and perform authorized structural or non-code weld repairs with a strong commitment to safety, quality, and plant uptime.

Normal Working Hours

• Monday through Sunday (Day Shift & Night Shift Avaliable)
• 7x10 work schedule; shutdowns or maintenance coverage may require other shifts
• Overtime, call-ins, and outage support as required by client and project needs

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on industrial machinery and mechanical systems to restore safe and reliable operation.
• Inspect, diagnose, remove, repair, replace, and adjust pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, couplings, drives, chains, belts, guards, and related mechanical components.
• Perform qualified maintenance welding and metal repair or fabrication of brackets, guards, frames, supports, chutes, and other approved equipment or facility components using the process required by the work.
• Prepare base metal; measure, cut, grind, bevel, fit, tack, and weld replacement or repair components, then inspect workmanship and complete required rework under approved procedures.
• Read and apply equipment manuals, work orders, mechanical drawings, fabrication sketches, welding symbols, and applicable Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
• Use SMAW (Stick), GMAW (MIG), FCAW (Flux Core), and/or GTAW (TIG) only for processes, materials, and weld positions the employee is qualified and authorized to perform.
• Troubleshoot recurring mechanical failures, identify worn or misaligned components, recommend repairs, and communicate root-cause observations to facility maintenance and supervision.
• Complete lubrication, component changeouts, mechanical adjustments, guarding repairs, equipment modifications, and routine maintenance inspections to the manufacturer’s or client’s requirements.
• Coordinate with operators, facility maintenance, Millwrights, Pipe Fitters, Riggers, Welders, and qualified electrical personnel when work requires another trade or specialized assistance.
• Safely isolate equipment and verify zero-energy state under approved lockout/tagout procedures before mechanical repairs, welding, cutting, or disassembly.
• Follow hot-work permitting, fire watch, fume-control, confined-space, fall-protection, and other site-specific controls when welding or repairing equipment in operating plants.
• Document maintenance findings, work completed, weld repairs, parts used, and outstanding defects; communicate equipment status and any further actions required before return to service.
• Maintain welding and mechanical tools and work areas in safe, serviceable condition; report unsafe conditions and perform other related industrial maintenance duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds without assistance and move heavier components with team lifts or approved lifting equipment.
• Ability to bend, crouch, kneel, reach, stand, climb, and work at heights or in restricted plant locations when trained, authorized, and properly equipped.
• Ability to use mechanical tools, welding equipment, grinders, cutting tools, and precision measuring devices safely while wearing required protective equipment.
• Ability to work indoors or outdoors in operating manufacturing facilities, maintenance shops, outage areas, and industrial plants with varying temperatures, noise, and conditions.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of directly relevant industrial mechanical maintenance or equipment-repair experience required; this is an experienced role, not a Helper or trainee position.
• Demonstrated hands-on welding experience is required in at least one relevant industrial process (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, or GTAW); must be willing and able to pass an applicable practical weld test if required by the assignment.
• Ability to independently diagnose and repair mechanical equipment, read technical manuals and drawings, and follow work orders, maintenance plans, and approved welding procedures.
• Experience with pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, couplings, guards, and welded equipment-support or guard repairs in active industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Knowledge of proper joint preparation, fit-up, weld quality, safe cutting and grinding, and applicable hot-work controls; familiarity with stainless steel or code piping is a plus but not required for every assignment.
• Working knowledge of LOTO, stored energy, machine guarding, safe lifting, and maintenance documentation; ability to coordinate with production and other trades. Valid driver’s license preferred.

Renfrow Industrial and/or the client will provide specialized welding machines, welding leads, consumables, lifting/rigging gear, testing equipment, and other project-specific or task-specific equipment as applicable.

Safety Commitment

Safety is a core value at Renfrow Industrial. Employees must follow company, OSHA, and client-specific requirements; participate in pre-task planning; and stop work when conditions are unsafe. All maintenance work must use approved lockout/tagout, stored-energy controls, machine guarding, hot-work permits, fire watch, ventilation, and appropriate welding PPE and protective measures. Equipment may be returned to service only through the client’s approved process.

This is a skilled, hands-on Maintenance Mechanic role combining industrial mechanical maintenance and qualified welding. Advancement opportunities may include senior maintenance, welding specialization, Millwright, Mechanical Lead / Foreman, or Superintendent assignments based on proven capabilities, training, performance, and company needs.

Position Limitations

• This is an experienced Maintenance Mechanic / maintenance-welding position; it is not an entry-level Helper or a primary new-construction pipefitting position.
• The employee independently performs assigned mechanical maintenance and authorized welding within verified qualifications; this role has no routine supervisory authority unless formally designated.
• Welding is required, but only within the employee’s demonstrated qualifications and the approved process, base material, weld position, project specifications, and any required WPS or weld test.
• Pressure-retaining pipe or vessel welding, structural code welding, electrical work, crane operation, and specialized rigging are not authorized merely by this job title; additional qualification and management or client approval are required.
• Equipment isolation, live-system work, hot work, weld repairs, and return to service must follow plant-approved permits, lockout/tagout, inspection, testing, and release-to-operations procedures.
