THE OPPORTUNITY

Pro Services Workforce Solutions has partnered with an industrial adhesive manufacturer to fill this Direct Hire opportunity for a 3rd Shift Maintenance Mechanic at their Mesquite, TX facility.

This site has increased productivity by 40%, and to keep that equipment reliable around the clock, they're building out dedicated off-shift maintenance. This is a mechanically focused role for a tech who can handle their business. Once you're trained, you'll be the maintenance mechanic on the floor for 3rd shift, keeping a food-grade hot melt adhesive operation running safely through the night.

ABOUT THE COMPANY

The Mesquite plant is a 70-year-old facility that has been owned by the company for 50 years, and it runs a mix of equipment from the 1970s and 80s alongside brand new packaging lines and robotic palletizers. It's also one of the most recognized sites in the company. This team has broken record after record over the last 18 months, draws regular visits from the VP and CEO, and is held up as the gold standard other sites look to when they train their own people.

Safety drives everything here. The site has a dedicated EHS manager who works with all three shifts, walks the floor often, and partners closely with maintenance on lockout/tagout and fall prevention. WHAT YOU WILL DO

■

Handle reactive mechanical and electrical repairs and planned mechanical maintenance across the plant.

■

Maintain and repair process equipment including hot oil and water boilers, steam systems, chillers, mix and hold tanks, pumps, pelletizers, baghouses, scales, insulation, and vacuum, roller, and belt conveyors, plus the fire alarm system and general facilities maintenance.

■

Support packaging equipment including case erectors, baggers, case sealers, check weighers, metal detectors, and robotic palletizers.

■

Rebuild mechanical devices, service bearings, shafts, seals, couplers, gearboxes, and conveyors, and work on pneumatics including solenoids and pressure switches.

■

Troubleshoot positive displacement and centrifugal pumps, starting with the basics like checking baskets and confirming flow so small issues don't turn into big ones hours later.

■

Troubleshoot electrical from 24 VDC control voltage up to 480 VAC, including motors, relays, sensors, fuses, and circuit breakers, using a meter to find the fault.

■

Use HMIs to troubleshoot, and do basic troubleshooting on robotic equipment to gather the details and start a plan.

■

Complete PMs with real ownership: torque, tighten, grease, and look for what needs attention instead of assuming it's fine because it's running.

■

When a repair can't be finished on shift, stabilize it safely and document the problem and the steps you took, so day shift can dive in the right way.

■

Send a clear end-of-shift handoff covering what happened, what's still open, and any parts needed.

■

Follow lockout/tagout and fall prevention procedures every time, and use stop-work authority when something isn't safe.

WHAT YOU BRING

■

3+ years of industrial maintenance experience, with the ability to work with minimal oversight.

■

A strong mechanical foundation. This is the site's top priority, including mechanical rebuilds, bearings, shafts and seals, gearboxes, couplers, conveyors, machine setup, and a solid understanding of processes.

■

Basic electrical skills across control voltage, 110–240V single phase, and 480V three phase, with confident meter use and experience with relays and sensors.

■

Basic pneumatic experience.

■

Hands-on experience with positive displacement and centrifugal pumps.

■

Experience using HMIs.

■

Strong safety habits, especially around lockout/tagout.

■

Ability to work 3rd shift Monday through Friday, plus occasional weekends, on-call, and overtime when needed.

NICE TO HAVE

■

Intermediate or advanced mechanical, electrical, or pneumatic experience.

■

Comfort reading diagrams and schematics, and troubleshooting electrical cabinets.

■

Experience with motors, VFDs, transformers, I/O modules, and wiring.

■

The ability to access a PLC or VFD for troubleshooting or resetting. The site runs mostly Allen-Bradley, and this is hardware-level only, not programming.

■

Basic troubleshooting experience on robots.

■

Air diaphragm pump experience.

■

Welding experience at any level.

■

A background in GMP, packaging, or food production.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Once you're trained, you'll be working this shift solo, so this team needs someone who is independent and manages their time well. You don't need someone standing over you to get the PMs done right. You take pride in your work, set a high bar for yourself, and track your results. When something breaks, you dig in to find the root cause. If you can't fully fix it, you get it running safely and explain exactly what you found and what you tried.

You're a problem solver who acts quickly and decisively, and you bring a positive attitude even when the night gets tough. Safety is personal to you. You recognize hazards, think about the people around you, and aren't afraid to stop the work or coach a peer. You see yourself as a partner and a resource for operators and shift leadership, not someone who pushes them aside. You leave your ego at the door, share what you know, and communicate clearly so the next shift is set up to succeed.

PAY, SCHEDULE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

■

$28 – $34/hr based on experience, plus a $2/hr shift differential.

■

3rd shift, 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM, Monday through Friday. Occasional weekends, on-call, or overtime when issues carry over from shift to shift, averaging 2–6 hours of overtime per week.

■

After training, you'll be the only maintenance mechanic on 3rd shift.

■

Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling in the 21–50 lb range for less than a third of the shift. Anything heavier is handled with lifts, hoists, or teamwork.

■

A mix of standing, walking, sitting, squatting, kneeling, crouching, and bending, plus stairs and ladder or scaffold work.

■

Some areas are hot, wet, narrow, or tight. Confined space work is contracted out.

■

Normal vision is required, including color vision and depth perception.

■

Required PPE: steel toe boots, uniform, safety glasses, bump cap, and hearing protection.

■

Non-union facility.
