Description

The Industrial Maintenance Technician II's role will emphasize AC / DC motor controls and Automation. The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing electronic, electrical, and hydraulic equipment, and mechanical systems and equipment throughout the facility. Ensures production equipment is retained to maximize machine productivity and minimize downtime.

Qualifications


Core Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots and repairs machines and equipment.
  • PLCs A/C, D/C motors, and drives.
  • Electrical / electronic problems to board level.
  • Mechanical problems.
  • Read and work from electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, maintenance manuals, and parts lists to repair and install equipment.
  • Utilize multimeters and test equipment as required.
  • Install/move machines, equipment, and required electrical equipment.
  • Install/hook up required electrical equipment utilizing proper wire and conduit sizes.
  • Assist in training of less experienced maintenance personnel.
  • Rebuild/modify machines and equipment as required.
  • Safely perform work using ladders and lifts as required.
  • Accept and support the safety program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possess advanced diagnostic and repair skills and understand electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic functions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to teach troubleshooting skills to less experienced maintenance staff.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawing and hydraulic schematics.
  • Ability to read and efficiently use a wide range of precision mechanical measurement devices.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Possess basic computer skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new concepts and techniques
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical issues
  • Possess basic application of industrial electoral distribution and motor control circuits and resolve complex electrical problems.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in A/C, D/C., motor controls, and VFD drives.
  • Minimum 4 years experience with Automation, PLCs I/O, HMI interface, and Ethernet.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Advanced formal education in mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, or machine design is strongly preferred.
  • Combined 7+ years of machine repair, maintenance, or electrical systems experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to work on-site and in multiple locations and settings.
  • Requires the ability to clearly understand verbal and written communication from others in person and by telephone.
  • Requires the ability to climb and work from ladders and other elevated platforms to inspect, assess and diagnose rinsing, sorting, conveying and loading equipment.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid and current operators license with a clean record.
  • The plant produces some off-grade product, meaning that it, at times, has a foul odor and can be messy.

Work Schedule:

The Industrial Maintenance Technician II's work schedule is highly dependent on the time of year and product availability. Staff will be expected to work as needed, which will require a great deal of flexibility as to the hours per day/week and the times worked. This is particularly true during the Harvest and Storage seasons.

The Plant generally operates 6 - 7 days per week. The Industrial Maintenance Technician can reasonably expect to work from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, 5 days each week, though given the scope of this position it is understood that this role is an on-call position and may be required to work occasionally in the evenings or on weekends if needed.
