Description

Heidtman Steel Products, Inc, a steel processing company in East Chicago, IN is searching for a dependable and experienced Electrical and/or PLC Maintenance Technician. Maintenance personnel are responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative and predictive maintenance on all our slitting line as well as general building maintenance.

Requirements

  Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment and systems
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on motors, panels, and circuits
  • Diagnose electrical faults using appropriate testing tools
  • Ensure compliance with all electrical codes and safety standards
  • Collaborate with other departments to improve equipment reliability
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot PLC systems and automation equipment
  • Perform routine maintenance on PLC hardware and software
  • Interpret electrical and schematic diagrams for troubleshooting
  • Install, program, and modify PLC-controlled machinery
  • Collaborate with engineers and production staff to improve system performance
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance and repair activities

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in industrial electrical maintenance
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and safety procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, technical drawings, technical manuals and schematics
  • Familiarity with tools such as multimeters, insulation testers, and thermal image
  • Proven experience and understanding working with PLC systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Omron)
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation and control systems
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • Flexibility to work shifts and respond to equipment failures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Diploma or certification in Electrical Engineering, Maintenance, Automation or a related field (or proven experience in lieu of a degree)
  • Knowledge of energy efficiency and electrical optimization practices
  • Experience with HMI/SCADA systems
