The Industrial Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous and efficient operation of manufacturing equipment and systems within a production environment. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to minimize downtime and maximize productivity. The technician will collaborate closely with production teams to identify potential issues before they escalate, implementing preventive maintenance strategies. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and adhering to safety and quality standards. Ultimately, the Industrial Maintenance Technician contributes to the overall operational excellence and reliability of manufacturing processes.
This is a 1st shift position with starting wage of $25.00 per hour, with adjustments based on individual skills. This is a 12 hour shift, 6:00 am - 6:00 pm working a 2:2:3 rotation (work 2 days, off 2 days, work 3 days, off 2 days, work 2 days, off 3 days) . Occasional overtime will be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a production or manufacturing setting (corrugated/packaging experience is a plus).
- Safety driven
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, electrical drawings, and schematics.
- Ability to safely work with 24V DC to 600VDC, and 120VAC to 480VAC.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measuring tools with proficiency.
- Strong knowledge of basic maintenance tasks (lubrication, inspection, troubleshooting, repairs, etc.).
- Physically able to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, and overhead work.
- Work in environments with moving machinery, extreme temperatures (-20°F to 125°F), and at heights up to 38 feet.
- Basic computer skills for entering work orders and documenting maintenance activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a production or manufacturing setting.
- Associate degree or higher in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Experience installing, replacing troubleshooting, and commissioning VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, and other programmable devices.
- Certification in industrial electrical systems, PLC programming, or hydraulics.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Familiarity with safety standards such as OSHA and NFPA 70E.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Knowledge of GMP and customer focused quality policies.
- Experience with motors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, sprockets, belts, conveyors, pumps, valves, and sensors.
- Experience with preventive maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance, and root cause analysis.
- Knowledge of lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety practices.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic malfunctions using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Repair or replace defective components, including but not limited to VFDs, motors, pumps, conveyors, and control systems.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly.
- Maintain detailed maintenance logs and documentation in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and promote a safe working environment.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new machinery and equipment as needed.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
- Troubleshoot electrical panels, motor controls, relays, contactors, overloads, and field devices.
- Support PLC-controlled equipment troubleshooting and assist with automation-related issues as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with plant and safety standards.
