Industrial Maintenance Machinist Job Responsibilities

As an Industrial Maintenance Machinist at Silgan Closures, you will support manufacturing operations by performing preventive maintenance, equipment maintenance, machine repair, troubleshooting, fabrication, and mechanical repairs on production equipment and industrial machinery.

What You Will Do

• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, sample parts, and technical drawings

• Set up and operate machine shop equipment, including:- Power saws

  • Drill presses
  • Grinding equipment

• Utilize precision measuring instruments and hand tools, including:- Scales

  • Tape measures
  • Hammers
  • Pliers
  • Wrenches

• Install, move, lubricate, repair, and maintain industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment

• Perform machine repair and equipment maintenance to minimize downtime

• Repair belts, pulleys, air lines, gas lines, and replace worn or damaged machine components

• Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic systems

• Perform fabrication and welding projects, including:- Acetylene welding

  • Heliarc (TIG) welding
  • Spot welding
  • Arc welding

• Conduct preventive maintenance and troubleshooting activities on production equipment

• Diagnose mechanical failures and implement corrective actions

• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve manufacturing efficiency, reliability, and safety

Qualifications

What You Will Need

• 3–5 years of experience as an Industrial Maintenance Machinist, Maintenance Mechanic, Industrial Mechanic, Mechanical Technician, or Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment

• Experience with:- Hydraulics

  • Pneumatics
  • Belts and pulleys
  • Machine repair
  • Welding and fabrication
  • Industrial machinery

• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and analytical skills

• Excellent mechanical aptitude

• Experience performing preventive maintenance and equipment maintenance

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
