Position Overview:
 The Maintenance Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring the continued smooth operation of our pallets manufacturing and repair facility,. This individual will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining all machinery, electrical systems, hydraulic equipment, and pneumatic systems within the facility. The ideal candidate should be proficient in industrial equipment repair and possess hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintenance & Repairs:
    • Perform routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance on all  manufacturing equipment, including but not limited to saws, conveyors, forklifts, and other industrial machinery.
    • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
    • Ensure the timely resolution of breakdowns to minimize downtime and maximize production efficiency.
  2. Preventive Maintenance:
    • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) checks on machinery and equipment to ensure operational reliability.
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance tasks, including parts used, time spent, and work performed, in accordance with company procedures.
  3. Safety & Compliance:
    • Ensure all maintenance work complies with company safety standards, OSHA regulations, and other relevant guidelines.
    • Perform safety checks on machinery and report potential hazards or areas needing improvement.
  4. Equipment Installation & Upgrades:
    • Assist in the installation, assembly, and testing of new machinery or upgrades to existing equipment.
    • Participate in machinery and system troubleshooting to improve operational efficiency and reduce production costs.
  5. Collaboration:
    • Work closely with the Head of Maintenance and other team members to prioritize and manage maintenance schedules.
    • Communicate with production supervisors to understand equipment-related issues affecting production timelines and goals.
  6. Parts Management & Inventory:
    • Monitor and manage inventory of spare parts and tools, ensuring the availability of critical components for timely repairs.
    • Assist in ordering replacement parts, tools, and equipment, as necessary.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Experience:
    • 3+ years of hands-on experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in a sawmill or pallet manufacturing environment (preferred).
    • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and their repair.
    • Minimum 2 years electrical experience
    • Conveyor installation, welding, electrical: 2 years (Required)
    • Schematics: 1 year (Required)
  2. Skills:
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex equipment malfunctions.
    • Experience with basic machine shop tools (lathes, drills, welding, etc.) for fabricating parts and components as needed.
    • Knowledge of maintenance management software or the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software.
  3. Certifications:
    • OSHA 10/30 Certification or equivalent safety training (preferred).
    • Electrical, pneumatic, or hydraulic certification (preferred).
  4. Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments.
    • Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and climb for extended periods.
    • Comfortable working in outdoor and indoor environments, with exposure to noise, heat, and other manufacturing conditions.

Work Schedule:

  • Weekend work and overtime may be required at times based on production needs and maintenance schedules.

 

Pre-Employment Requirements:

  • An aptitude test may be administered at the discretion of management prior to employment to assess the candidate’s skills and abilities in areas relevant to the Maintenance Technician role.
