Position Overview

The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production equipment and facility systems to ensure safe and efficient operations. This role supports the reliability of manufacturing equipment through preventative maintenance, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, and coordination with outside vendors when specialized repairs are required.

The technician will maintain maintenance records, support equipment safety programs including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and help ensure the facility operates at optimal performance levels.

This position is designated as Safety Sensitive.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on industrial manufacturing equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues affecting production machinery.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues involving motors, sensors, electrical circuits, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems, and mechanical components.
  • Maintain and repair equipment used in metal fabrication and wood manufacturing operations, including:
    • CNC machines
    • Press brakes
    • Punch presses
    • Saws and cutting equipment
    • Conveyor systems
    • Dust collection systems
    • Air compressors
    • Material handling equipment
  • Ensure production equipment is operating at optimal efficiency to minimize downtime.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow and enforce all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Implement and support Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures during maintenance activities.
  • Identify and report safety concerns or equipment risks.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas.
  • Reinforce proper safety practices when working on industrial equipment.

Maintenance Coordination

  • Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for specialized maintenance or equipment repairs.
  • Assist in scheduling maintenance activities to minimize production interruptions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, service records, and repair documentation.

Inventory & Parts Management

  • Monitor inventory levels of maintenance parts, supplies, and replacement components.
  • Assist with ordering parts, tools, and maintenance materials as needed.
  • Maintain organized storage of maintenance supplies and spare parts.

General Support

  • Work closely with production and operations teams to quickly resolve equipment issues.
  • Assist with installation, setup, and relocation of production equipment when needed.
  • Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned by management.

Technical Skills & Equipment Experience (Preferred)

Experience working with or maintaining the following equipment and systems is strongly preferred:

Manufacturing Equipment

  • CNC machines
  • Press brakes
  • Punch presses
  • Band saws and cutting equipment
  • Drill presses
  • Conveyor systems
  • Automated production equipment


Mechanical Systems

  • Pneumatic systems
  • Hydraulic systems
  • Gearboxes and motors
  • Bearings, belts, and drive systems


Electrical Systems

  • Industrial electrical systems (120V–480V)
  • Motor controls
  • Electrical panels
  • Sensors and relays


Facility Equipment

  • Dust collection systems
  • Air compressors
  • Material handling equipment
  • Facility electrical and mechanical systems


Maintenance Practices

  • Preventative maintenance programs
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Equipment troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Maintenance documentation and service logs

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office or maintenance tracking systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Training or certification in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance.
  • Experience working with metal fabrication or wood manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when required.
  • Ability to work safely around industrial machinery and equipment.
