The primary focus of this position is identifying and implementing process improvements and cost reductions using accepted industrial engineering and lean manufacturing methodologies.
Experienced industrial engineering candidates (7 or more years) with project management skills are preferred.
What You Need to Know:
- This Industrial Engineering role will own the process for a continuous line. This requires the ability to visualize complex processes and implement process designs capable of meeting our safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
- It is expected that strong collaboration with this role’s production supervisor/team leads will lead to success.
- Develop and improve new manufacturing processes, including PFD, SIPOC, VSM, Yamazumi, Work Instructions, etc.
- Analyze work force utilization, facility layout, and operational data such as production costs, process flow diagrams, and production schedules to determine efficient utilization of production team members and equipment.
- Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities such as restructuring job duties, reorganizing workflow, relocating workstations and equipment, and purchase of equipment.
- Troubleshoot daily manufacturing issues.
- Occasional travel to domestic sites.
- Regularly exposed to the manufacturing plant environment. Potential exposure may include, but is not limited to: solvents, dusts, noise, heat, cold, outside weather conditions, cramped spaces, and building construction areas. Potential physical demands include, but are not limited to: frequent walking and standing, occasional climbing, twisting, stooping, kneeling, lifting, carrying, handling, pushing, and pulling.
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from a four-year college or university; plus seven or more years of relevant experience in a high volume manufacturing environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing methodologies and principles is required. Formal training and experience implementing lean strategies to improve process flow and reduce cost is required.
- Demonstrated project management experience.
- Ability to read and interpret drawing requirements and specifications is required.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills are required.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are required.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet critical deadlines.
- Prefer manufacturing/assembly automation experience.
- Personal computer skills include, but are not limited to: MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
