Location: South Elgin, IL OR Belvidere, IL

Shift: 1st shift

Employment Type: Full-Time Contract-to-Hire

Pay Rate: $25-35 per hour

The position offers the chance to work closely with controls engineers, machine builders, and engineering teams, giving experienced electricians exposure to automation, control panels, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, drives, and other industrial electrical systems.

If you enjoy building equipment, solving electrical problems, reading schematics, and seeing a machine come to life from assembly through startup, this role offers a strong opportunity to put those skills to work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and wire electrical control panels according to electrical schematics and engineering drawings.

  • Install and route wiring, cables, sensors, motors, and other electrical components on custom automated machinery.

  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, panel layouts, and bills of material.

  • Perform point-to-point wiring of control panels and field devices.

  • Mount and wire PLCs, HMIs, relays, circuit breakers, power supplies, drives, and other electrical components.

  • Support machine power-up, electrical checkout, startup, and debugging alongside controls engineers and machine builders.

  • Troubleshoot electrical issues during the equipment build process and make necessary corrections.

  • Verify electrical installations meet applicable codes, safety standards, and internal quality requirements.

  • Work closely with engineering and assembly teams to ensure machines are built to specification and operate safely.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of industrial electrical assembly or electrician experience in a manufacturing, automation, or similar environment.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and panel layouts.

  • Hands-on experience wiring control panels and automated machinery.

  • Familiarity with PLC systems, HMIs, sensors, drives, and other industrial electrical components.

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
