Troubleshoot Automation: Diagnose and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and overhead cranes.
Execute Repairs: Fix furnace controls, rolling mill automation, and electrical components.
Perform Preventive Maintenance: Inspect motors, circuits, and sensors regularly to prevent catastrophic melt-shop downtime.
Read Schematics: Interpret complex electrical blueprints, piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and technical manuals.
Enforce Safety: Follow strict lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols, NFPA 70E arc flash guidelines, and OSHA regulations.
Extreme Conditions: Exposure to high heat, dust, loud noise, and molten metal environments.
Physical Agility: Ability to climb ladders, work at heights on cranes, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Shift Work: Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime for emergency breakdowns.
Education: High school diploma/GED plus a registered apprenticeship or a relevant technical degree.
Licensure: Valid Journeyman Electrician license preferred.
