JOB SUMMARY – Industrial Electrician - Start rate - $39.54, goes to $40.04 after 40 work days
The Industrial Electrician will troubleshoot and repair plant equipment and perform preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical installations and production equipment as needed. You will be responsible to the improvement and success of the facility as it related to Industrial Electrical Systems and must have the ability to apply problem solving techniques for the repair and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- To repair any and all electrical problems as they occur on a timely basis
- To install new electrical components, conduit, lights, control panels, starter panels
- Assist in ordering parts needed to complete jobs
- Assist with training of other maintenance personnel
- Able to troubleshoot problems with scales, VFD’s, A/C’s, electronic equipment, etc.
- To lead other less qualified electrical craftsman on jobs
- Have knowledge in properly sizing motors, wiring, breakers and controls on new and older equipment
- Repair and troubleshoot production equipment such as Case Packers and Filling machines
- Have the ability to program and adjust temperature, level and zero speed controls
- Maintain 480V 3 phase electrical system of motors and starters and associated wiring to include replacement
- Diagnose problems in machinery and equipment used in the production facility
- Install conduit and wiring to electrical equipment as required
- Maintain PLC based control systems
- Calibrate and maintain industrial process instruments
- Perform preventative maintenance per the company’s preventative maintenance plan
- Assist in the troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment as required
- Desirable: Operate a fork truck, JLG, scissor lift and other mobile equipment or have the ability to learn to operate
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education
- High School Education or equivalent, Electrical School or Technical training
Experience
- 4 –years’ experience as Industrial Electrician or completion of technical or trade school with one year experience.
- Must have troubleshooting and controls experience
- Previous food industry experience preferred
- Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLC programs
Certificates and / or Licenses
- Electrical Journeymen’s License preferred
- Valid US Driver License
- Internal Forklift Certification
Skills and Abilities
Physical and/or Mental Requirements:
- Perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs moving whole body, such as climbing(excess of 100 ft), lifting, balancing, bending, reaching, leaning, stooping, and handling of materials
- Must be able to communicate loudly and clearly enough to be heard over normal plant background noise
- Ability to read write, listen to, comprehend, and communicate in English
- Eyesight either natural or corrected must be sufficient to work safely in daylight or dimly lit conditions
- Must demonstrate a proper use and care of all facility required PPE
- Must have good mathematical skills
- Must be able to determine root causes of operating errors as well as determine best remedy to repair equipment
- Ability to utilize critical thinking, active listening, oral comprehension, judgment, and decision-making skills; as well as deductive and inductive reasoning skills
- Working knowledge of speed, motion, time; and methods involved in production; able to interpret engineering drawings and schematic diagrams
- Knowledge of OSHA Lock Out/Tag Out and Confined Space procedures
Equipment Used:
- Voltmeters, multi-meters, high and low voltage detectors, pipe bending tools, grounding hardware, Megger
- Power tools, hand tools, welding tools, safety equipment
- Various shop equipment and cutting torch
- Multimeter to measure amperage, voltage, and resistance
- Computers to view and edit PLC programs
Working Conditions
- Be able to work in a fast-paced work environment on a daily basis
- Physically present on time, regular attendance; ability to work overtime, including weekends, nights, holidays, and on a needed basis
- Respond to emergency callouts; on-call when scheduled
- High exposure to noise and seasonal exposure to heat and cold
