Job Overview:

MP Materials is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Industrial Electrician to be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical and manufacturing equipment for a new Magnetics facility in Fort Worth, TX. This business unit will manufacture the rare earth alloys and magnets required to secure the future of US electrification, and the Fort Worth site will perform a mix of chemical, electrical, mechanical, thermal, and machining processes that each have their own unique controls and electrical equipment. 


The Industrial Electrician will report to the Maintenance Manager and will work with the Operations, Engineering, Construction, and Technology teams to supply utilities to install, maintain, and monitor industrial manufacturing equipment. The facility equipment includes high temperature AC and DC heating systems, vacuum induction furnaces, mills, presses, vacuum and atmospheric furnaces, CNC equipment, wet chemical processes, and precision inspection and laboratory equipment. This position’s duties will include the installation of equipment electrical infrastructure to VFD’s, sensors, switches, PLC’s, transformers, motors, pumps, controllers, HVAC equipment, etc. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Install circuits for electrical equipment.
  • Install timer switches contactors for lighting system upgrades such as control circuits and fixtures to ensure proper electrical functions.
  • Repair electric lights, transformers, switchboards, and other electrical apparatus for proper function.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electronic components of manufacturing process equipment.
  • Test electrical/electronic wiring, equipment, systems, or fixtures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot, and maintain switch gear, transformers, power monitoring, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fire protection system electrical components.
  • Follow all aspects of maintenance safety protocol.
  • Work closely with EHS to ensure that all work is done to ensure world class health and safety, and full compliance with relevant environmental regulations.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of an approved Certified Industrial Electrician Program.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Industrial Electrical-Instrumentation repair and maintenance.
  • Strong electrical control troubleshooting experience, including the ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and P&IDs.
  • Knowledge of uninterruptable power sources, natural gas generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, and automatic/static transfer switches.
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations including Life Safety, IBC, NFPA, NEC, and OSHA.
  • Sound knowledge of process safety, including understanding proper use of electrical PPE.


DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Electrical and/or Instrumentation experience in a manufacturing facility focused on metals, semiconductor, or chemicals industries.
  • Experience with medium and high voltage equipment.
  • Knowledge of arc flash hazards.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems, and effectively communicate and advocate for solutions.
