Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY: To perform electrical and instrumentation inspections, repairs and rebuilds on all plant/mine operating equipment to ensure continuous operation within the required quality control standards. Basic PLC and HMI trouble shooting and programing is required. Industrial mechanical repair at a basic level is required as needed to support the facility. This role is critical to achieving Plant OEE and Equipment Availability goals by elimination of unplanned stops and extended downtimes. Incumbents in the position are required to participate in company-sponsored training and certification programs to ensure that their job knowledge and skills meet evolving company standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS:

Perform the repair and preventive maintenance of process equipment.

  • Troubleshoot problems in electrical circuits, electric motors, starters, VFD’s, Soft-Starters and Instrumentation (temperature, draft/pressure, level, flow)
  • Perform daily inspection and calibration as needed of process control equipment and environmental compliance equipment
  • Specify and install replacement and new (application’s) process equipment and components
  • Capable of programming and troubleshooting programmable logic controllers (PLC’s) to include A-B/Rockwell PLC5, ControlLogic, DeviceNet, and ControlNet
  • Must be able to perform mechanical PMs and repairs to the following equipment: Screw conveyors, belt conveyors, bucket elevators, Raymond mills, screens, general bearing installation, reducer maintenance and installation, stationary equipment lubrication

In the absence of the Electrical Supervisor or Automation Engineer provide support.

  • Direct the Electrical Department and functions as needed
  • Use software tools to troubleshoot and evaluate programming/field issues

Safety

  • Perform all work assigned in a neat and orderly manner, adhering to company governmental safety rules and regulations
  • Report any potential operational or safety problems to supervision
  • Know and follow lock out/ tag out procedures
  • Must have high regard of other’s safety in the field

Miscellaneous

  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Perform all tasks in a timely and efficient manner

ATTRIBUTES:

  • Must be a fully qualified and trained electrician
  • Must be capable of working any shift, overtime, be on-call, or work seven days a week, if needed
  • Working knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance
  • Read, write, and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, standard operating procedures, electrical drawings, maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals
  • Must be able perform basic mathematical computations
  • Must be able to stick weld in four positions
  • Must be able to operate and use an oxygen/acetylene
  • Must be able to multitask with a strong sense of urgency to meet the customer needs
  • Must be able to work well within a team environment and take instructions from management and co-workers
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Must possess the basic reading and math skills
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess basic computer skills on how to use MS Office products and SAP
  • Strong record of attendance reliability
  • Must know, understand and observe all department and plant safety rules and maintain a high level of housekeeping in assigned work areas
  • Must be capable of performing the essential job duties required of this job

Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:

  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels
  • Will be working at times in an underground mine environment
  • Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Lime/Mineral Particles
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting
  • Ability to occasionally lift/carry 44 pounds

Required Experience: 3-5 years electrical experience. Completion of an apprenticeship program, technical program, or equivalent experience in industrial background. Previous heavy manufacturing and/or mining experience is highly preferred. Experience programming and troubleshooting with Allen-Bradley PLC-5, Control Logix, and RSLogix5, 480V power distribution and motor controls is strongly desired.

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of an apprenticeship program, technical program, or equivalent experience in industrial background.

For this position, being authorized to work in the U.S. is a precondition of employment.
