Description
The primary responsibilities of this position will be to provide detailed fabrication drawings for the industrial business. (Distribution, OEM and Mining & aggregate) In addition this person will assist Customer Service in determining customer specifications.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Function as the primary technical resource for all perforated pattern layouts.
- Assist in the design & layout of new perf patterns for MP & TP presses, including, but not limited to tool layout, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
- Maintain engineering print files & tool information in the estimating system.
- Aid in the research & development of new products to examine the feasibility of Hendrick producing a potential product and providing expert consultation during Pre-Production Meetings
- Create shop drawings of parts for customer service & Architectural manufacturing to supply customers with proper tolerances prior to the perforation process.
- Aid Customer Service in interpretation of blueprints and recommend the best way to process the product.
- Layout sample perforating patterns
- Maintain a history of all shop drawings created and approved.
- Coordinate data associated with the shop drawing for easy reference.
- Upon request, draw clean drawings for maintenance from a hand sketch to send for outside work
- Create PDF files with TP turnouts attached for ease of programming at TP Presses
- Create DXF for Whitney
- Create DXF files for Trumpf Press
- Active in the Customer Conversion Team which tracks new customer orders through the shop to assure customer satisfaction
- Assist the Architectural department with fabrication drawing support to include corrugation drawings, framing, and architectural perforated panels
Qualifications
Qualifications required
- An Associate’s Degree within Design/Drafting or a related field, or considerable prior transferable experience
- 5+ years in design using AutoCAD or similar software
- 3+ years in an industrial environment
- Ability to read part fabrication drawings
- Strong computer skills, including standard Microsoft applications and CAD/CAM software
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to contribute individually and work well in a team environment
- Open-minded, forward-thinking, and results oriented
- Working knowledge of standard sheet metal applications and tolerances
- Working knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing equipment
- Working knowledge of sheet metal materials and properties
- Working knowledge of tool manufacturing and tool service practices
Qualifications desired
- 3-5 years in a heavy manufacturing environment
- Ability to read basic Architectural plans and details
