Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Controls Technician to join a growing food manufacturing operation. This individual will be responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and improving highly automated production equipment to maximize uptime, product quality, and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess strong electrical and controls experience with PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, instrumentation, and industrial automation systems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, controls, and automation issues on high-speed food processing and packaging equipment.
- Program, modify, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen-Bradley preferred; Siemens experience is a plus).
- Diagnose issues involving HMIs, VFDs, servo motors, sensors, safety circuits, and industrial networks.
- Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on automated production equipment.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Support installation, startup, and commissioning of new production equipment and automation projects.
- Calibrate instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level devices.
- Work closely with Maintenance, Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Assist with root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate maintenance documentation within the CMMS system.
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, GMP, OSHA, and company safety standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, waste reduction, and equipment performance.
Qualifications
Associate's degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, Industrial Automation, or related field preferred.
3+ years of industrial maintenance or controls experience in a manufacturing environment.
Food manufacturing experience is highly preferred.
Strong knowledge of:- PLC troubleshooting and programming
- Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, CompactLogix, or Siemens PLCs
- FactoryTalk View or other HMI platforms
- Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
- Servo and motion control systems
- Industrial Ethernet communication networks
- Electrical troubleshooting up to 480V
Ability to interpret electrical schematics and ladder logic.
Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Familiarity with CMMS software for work orders and preventative maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with robotic systems (Fanuc, ABB, or similar).
- Instrumentation and process controls experience.
- Food safety certifications or GMP experience.
- Knowledge of vision inspection systems and automated packaging equipment.
- Experience supporting continuous improvement or Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
