NSI Engineering, a leading System Integrator, is actively seeking an Industrial Controls Engineer with hands-on experience in PLC/HMI systems – mainly Rockwell Allen-Bradley. Experience with Schneider systems is a bonus.
This is a role specifically for Controls Engineers. Applicants must be comfortable with a hybrid work setup (remote work from their home office when not on-site). This role's main job site is at MSP Airport. **CANDIDATES MUST ALREADY LIVE IN MN NEAR MSP.

About the Role
As an Industrial Controls Engineer, you will work directly with PLC systems, **HMI **coordination, and a variety of industrial automation projects (such as airport baggage handling systems). The role requires hands-on engineering expertise in PLC upgrades, networking, and control system troubleshooting.
This is NOT a software engineering position– we are seeking candidates with direct experience in controls, automation, and industrial systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform PLC hardware/software upgrades (Rockwell Allen-Bradley focus)
- Lead HMI coordination and integration with OEM systems
- Collaborate on mechanical and electrical coordination with various teams
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in industrial control systems
- Manage networking and controls data across projects
- Act as an NSI representative, communicating with clients and maintaining professional relationships
Skills & Experience You’ll Bring:
- 2-3 years of recent experience working with PLC/HMI systems (Rockwell Allen-Bradley required, Schneider is a plus)
- Expertise in PLC software (Logix5000/Studio5000, ProWorx, Unity)
- Familiarity with HMI packages (Wonderware, Ignition, FactoryTalk, etc.)
- Experience with** **networking, server setup, and virtualization (Windows Server, VMWare, etc.)
- Strong working knowledge of Excel for reporting and analysis
Requirements:
- Location: Must live within an easy commute to MSP airport.
- Authorized to work in the US and able to pass a background check (for airport badging)
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel (10% - 20%)
- Comfortable with air travel and occasional irregular hours (some nights, no regular weekends)
