Job Overview:

DESCRIPTION

Incoming Quality Technician is responsible for developing component inspection plans and CMM programs. Assist Engineering and quality departments in proper documentation of engineering drawings and in the measurement of complex parts & features.

Complete or support the completion of First Article / PPAP inspections and the documentation of results. Provide technical support and analysis on quality related issues to ensure timely resolution. Support the reporting and analysis of incoming and supplier quality performance measures. Work with Quality Inspection Specialist and Supplier Quality Engineer to develop, plan and implement prevention-based quality controls to facilitate continuous reduction of defects and variations. Support corrective action system to improve quality culture. Conduct audits to ensure continuous improvement and strengthen quality culture.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform inspection and testing activities of incoming and in-process parts, First Articles/PPAP for conformity to specifications, which require complex part-setup techniques, measurement of complex features and use of advanced measurement equipment such as dial indicators, Fluke Multimeter/ Hydr. Pressure & Flow test kit, Optical Comparator, Oscilloscope, CMM (FARO), etc.
  • Support the processing and management of non-conforming materials, including all related transactions, dispositions.
  • Documenting, maintaining accurate records of inspections, tests and other quality related activities in ERP (Great Plains) and other locations.
  • Participating in inspection process improvement.
  • Problem-solving skills, including identifying and analyzing quality issues, root cause analyses (using 5Why or Ishikawa) and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support implementation of 6S work environment.
  • Support reporting & analysis of IQC data (Supplier DPPM, Cost of Quality) to identify performance drivers/trends and improvement needs.
  • Interpret Engineering drawings and develop inspection plans for components (incl., what to inspect, how to inspect, what equipment to use). Develop CMM programs, as required, to CAD data and/or print for component parts and assemblies.
  • Support completing calibration and maintenance of measurement & testing equipment.
  • Conduct internal audits of IQC processes or other area.

Project and Regular Quality (beyond the project):

  • Develop FA inspection plans for Metal Fab components produced in house,
  • Conduct FA inspections, document results,
  • Work with stakeholders
  • Develop Incoming Control Instructions (purchased parts),
  • Conduct purchased parts incoming quality control,
  • Process non-conforming parts internal, external,
  • Conduct problem solving, root-cause analysis, for vendor related issues,
  • Document and archive quality records,
  • Support maintaining measurement equipment and their calibration,
