Job Overview:

We’re partnering with an established HVAC manufacturer’s representative serving commercial and institutional customers across Montana and Wyoming to hire an experienced Master HVAC Service Technician.

This is a senior-level field position for a technician with deep commercial HVAC experience who can independently troubleshoot complex systems, perform equipment startups and service, and serve as a trusted technical resource for customers and other technicians.

The role supports a broad range of HVAC equipment, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, pumps, VRF systems, VFDs, heat pumps, cooling towers, rooftop units, DOAS, split systems, fans, and controls.

You’ll work closely with the service team, manufacturers, contractors, facility teams, and technical specialists to ensure equipment is properly commissioned, operating as intended, and turned over professionally to the customer.

This position is based out of Bozeman, Montana and requires regular travel throughout Montana and Wyoming. A fully equipped company service vehicle is provided.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Perform startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, service, and repair of commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, refrigerant, and controls-related issues.
  • Review equipment documentation, IOM manuals, building layouts, and job requirements before and during field work.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for customers and technicians in the field.
  • Identify required parts and coordinate repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Complete startup documentation, service reports, timecards, scheduling updates, and other job-related paperwork electronically.
  • Work directly with manufacturers on equipment-specific troubleshooting and technical support.
  • Complete factory training and certifications for represented equipment lines.
  • Mentor and support less-experienced technicians, helping develop their troubleshooting and technical skills.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, facility teams, and customers through responsive, professional service.

What We’re Looking For

  • 15+ years of HVAC service experience, ideally in commercial, industrial, or institutional environments.
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical HVAC systems, refrigeration, electrical troubleshooting, and controls.
  • Experience servicing and troubleshooting equipment such as chillers, boilers, air handlers, VRF, VFDs, cooling towers, rooftop units, pumps, heat pumps, and controls.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment documentation, wiring diagrams, sequences, and manufacturer specifications.
  • Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to other technicians.
  • Self-directed and organized, with the ability to manage multiple service priorities.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Universal EPA/CFC certification required or must be obtained.
  • Boiler operator license is a plus, but not required.
  • Hospital and/or resort HVAC experience is preferred.
  • Ability to travel throughout Montana and Wyoming.
  • Ability to meet applicable background and drug-screening requirements.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $50+/hour base pay, depending on experience.
  • Company service vehicle and gas card.
  • Specialty tools and uniforms provided.
  • Company-provided cell phone.
  • Paid factory and manufacturer training.
  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Paid holidays and PTO.
  • 401(k) with company match.
