What you will do:

The HR Manager/Employee Services Manager (ESM) is the primary steward of the People & Culture experience at their assigned Plant Operation. This role champions the employee voice—ensuring every team member is heard, valued, and empowered to contribute at their highest potential.

As a trusted advisor and strategic partner, the ESM leads employee relations, fosters cross-functional collaboration across all HR disciplines, and ensures alignment with organizational values and operational goals. A key focus of this role is supporting unionized environments, including leading collective bargaining processes with appropriate guidance and partnership.

The ESM brings a strong understanding of the business unit’s operations and culture, using that insight to proactively identify opportunities, resolve challenges, and drive continuous improvement. Above all, this role is filled by a dynamic, solutions-oriented leader who helps employees and business partners navigate complexity and move the business forward.

Here’s a day in the life:

  • Provide guidance to assigned to assigned division on HR related matters in a plant environment

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day performance management

  • Provides day to day performance management guidance to line management (Coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)

  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and retention

  • Provide advice and counsel to management regarding employee concerns, policy and CBA interpretation and administration

  • Administer collective bargaining agreement (CBA)

  • Provide expertise on CBA interpretation and resolve workplace grievances

  • Participate in union contract negotiations and serve as a labor relations expert

  • Partner with L&D Team to ensure training needs are met

  • Partner with all levels of management supporting key HR initiatives

  • Operating as an employee advocate, manage and fact find a diverse spectrum of employee relations challenges and inquiries

  • Work closely with Director, Employees Services to identify themes of challenges to interact within a strategic way.

  • Support L&D initiatives and overall employee development processes

  • Partner with Talent team to support overall talent acquisition efforts

  • Utilizing company HRIS systems to manage/input employee data

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Solid initiative, self-direction, and high-level problem solving skills.

  • Demonstrates deep business acumen and leverages insights to align People & Culture strategies with organizational goals, enabling data-informed decision-making and long-term impact.

  • Applies a strong understanding of business dynamics to shape talent strategies that drive performance and innovation.”

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree is preferred or equivalent experience.

  • 5-7 years HR management experience in a manufacturing environment

  • 5 years labor relations required and contract negotiations experience preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex problems impacting people, processes, and program issues, along with excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to -day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with legal counsel as needed/required.

  • Develops and analyzes trends and metrics to develop and/or update solutions, programs, and policies.

  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)

  • Works closely with management and employees to improve working relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills experience in a union environment.

  • MS office applications

  • Previous experience with giving presentations to small groups.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Strong customer service orientation.
