The Heavy Machine Operator is responsible for setting up fixtures and machinery to perform bending, forming, and balancing operations on heavy-duty equipment.
Operate equipment to meet expected per-hour production rates.
Frequent physical, mental, and visual activity.
Perform first-piece inspections and record data for each job.
Perform tasks required to run machines, including operating controls and monitoring conditions of the equipment being used.
Set up fixtures and machinery to perform bending, forming, and balancing operations on various pieces of equipment.
Visually inspect work during the run for burrs, broken punches, etc.,
Working from shop orders, checking parts against drawings, and using fixed gauges.
May assist with moving material, parts, or containers.
Engage safety devices before starting machinery.
Notify the set-up person regarding difficulties with dies or malfunction of equipment.
May operate other equipment in the department as directed.
Use micrometers, scales, and fixed gauges and record inspection results.
Follow prescribed safety practices, using all safety devices furnished.
Perform other duties as assigned.
