Heavy Equipment & Truck Mechanic

Direct Hire | Up to $36/hr | Flexible 4-Day or 5-Day Schedule

TOPS Staffing is hiring an experienced Heavy Equipment & Truck Mechanic for a direct hire opportunity with a well-established industrial contractor serving the greater Pittsburgh area.

This is a hands-on position working on a wide variety of heavy equipment, commercial trucks, trailers, and construction equipment. In addition to shop repairs, you'll occasionally use a company service truck to perform repairs at local customer job sites.

Pay & Schedule

Direct Hire

Pay: Up to $36.00/hour (based on experience)

Schedule Options:

  • - Monday-Friday (5 x 8-hour shifts)
    • Monday-Thursday (4 x 10-hour shifts
    • Occasional overtime available

What You'll Do

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair heavy equipment, commercial trucks, trailers, and diesel-powered equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and DOT/Class 7 inspections
  • Repair diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulic systems, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical components
  • Perform field service repairs using a company service truck when needed
  • Complete repair orders, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Follow all company safety procedures and DOT regulations

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment, diesel truck, or fleet maintenance experience
  • Strong diagnostic and mechanical troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working on diesel engines and hydraulic systems
  • Valid Class B CDL required
  • Class A CDL is a plus
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality repairs
