Job Overview:

Assembler Level III – Job Description

Overview

Responsible for performing standard assembly processes, reworks, and repairs on manufactured equipment and products. Assembler Level III employees must be able to read blueprints and drawings and be knowledgeable in the use of precision measuring instruments. Employees must also troubleshoot scenarios to determine the safest and most efficient way to repair equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Work under limited to no supervision while performing a variety of assembly operations on products, small mechanical or electro‑mechanical parts, equipment housings, or large equipment such as engines, PTO drive trains, transmissions, diesel and natural gas generators, control equipment, covers/cowlings, and related connecting lines.

  • Perform assembly tasks including fitting, mounting, alignment, adjusting, operational testing, and other duties.

  • Promote and contribute to safety awareness.

  • Participate actively in quality and continuous improvement processes.

  • Perform preventive maintenance, inspect production equipment, and conduct minor repairs.

  • Read blueprints and drawings; use precision measuring instruments.

  • Perform manufacturing math calculations and use specialized lifting equipment.

  • Maintain working knowledge of equipment capabilities and limitations.

  • Troubleshoot to determine the safest and most efficient repair methods.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED plus 2–10 years of related experience.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision on a variety of assembly operations involving mechanical and electro‑mechanical components and large equipment.

  • Proficiency with basic hand and power tools.

  • Proficiency with basic measurement tools (tape measure, rulers, squares).

  • Basic understanding of calibration tools (e.g., torque wrench).

  • Minimum 5 years of heavy equipment assembly experience.

  • Ability to read blueprints and follow work instructions.

  • Strong understanding of MS programs (Word, Email, PDM).

  • Knowledge of fluid power schematics and symbols.

  • Understanding of UEM quality policies and standards.

  • Good standing with company policies.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of all build processes within the UE Manufacturing production shop.

  • Ability to make decisions to keep production lines moving.

  • Ability to lead a project or crew when needed.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

Physical Activities & Requirements

  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs; able to lift 65 lbs from floor to shoulder occasionally.

  • Ability to frequently push/pull 50 lb‑force (no wheels) or 100 lb‑force (with wheels).

  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, lifting, carrying, and reaching/handling with arms, hands, and fingers.

  • Ability to work in narrow spaces.

  • Frequent repetitive movements (hammering, wrenching, using screwdrivers and impact tools).

  • Manual dexterity sufficient for detailed hand work.

  • Normal vision with or without corrective lenses.

  • Exposure to cold, heat, noise, mechanical/electrical fumes or odors.

  • Occasional requirement to work more than 8 hours per shift.

  • Required to work at heights of at least four feet.

  • Ability to operate overhead cranes, mobile equipment, and motor vehicles as needed.
