Our Customer is hiring an experienced, safety-focused Versa-Lift Operator to support a data-center equipment operation in Sparks, Nevada. You'll operate high-capacity Versa-Lifts with boom attachments to receive, move, position and load heavy, high-value industrial units. A separate professional rigging crew handles all rigging. You'll operate the equipment under the direction of a designated lift director, and every lift will follow an approved lift plan.
Core Responsibilities
- Equipment Operation
- Safely operate high-capacity Versa-Lifts (25/35 and 40/60 class) and standard forklifts in tight industrial spaces.
- Operate boom attachments and the extendable counterweight chassis according to the manufacturer's load charts.
- Move heavy, top-heavy and high-value units smoothly and under control. Avoid sudden turns and stops, and never travel with a raised load.
- Lift Execution
- Perform each lift according to the approved lift plan and under the direction of the designated lift director and signal person.
- Before every lift, confirm that the load weight, load center and equipment configuration are within rated capacity.
- Position the equipment as the lift director directs, and keep clear while the rigging crew is working.
- Safety and Inspection
- Complete and document pre-shift equipment inspections, including hydraulics, fluids, tires, structure, attachments and safety devices.
- Before moving, check travel paths, floor conditions, steel plate placement and overhead clearances.
- Keep exclusion zones in place and never allow anyone under or in the path of a suspended load.
- Stop any lift when conditions are unsafe or differ from the approved lift plan.
- Team Communication
- Stay in clear radio and visual contact with the lift director and signal person.
- Take part in pre-lift safety briefings and job safety analyses.
- Report incidents, near misses and equipment issues right away.
- General Warehouse Support
- Help with receiving, putaway, shipping, loading and unloading as directed.
- Keep the work area clean, organized and safe.
Required Qualifications
- At least 1 year of recent, verifiable hands-on experience operating Versa-Lifts or comparable high-capacity forklifts rated at 20,000 lbs or more in industrial, warehouse or construction settings.
- Strong working knowledge of load centers, center of gravity, counterweights and capacity/load charts.
- A proven record of safely handling large, top-heavy or high-value equipment.
- Able to follow standard hand signals and radio direction during lifts.
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb on and off heavy equipment, and work in varied industrial conditions.
- Must pass a background check required for customer site access.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience operating Versa-Lift 25/35 and/or 40/60 models
- Experience with boom or hoist attachments
- Experience in data-center, power-generation or industrial installation environments
Qualification Before Independent Operation
Prior experience alone does not qualify an operator to work on their own. Before operating independently, every operator must:
- Complete Versa-Lift training and certification from the equipment manufacturer, the rental vendor or the customer's qualified contractor.
- Pass the powered industrial truck evaluation required by OSHA (29 CFR 1910.178).
- Complete training specific to the site and the lift plan.
- Perform supervised lifts until approved for independent operation.
