Heat Treat Operator I

3rd Shift, 10:30PM-7:00AM, Sunday - Thursday

Hourly rate $18.50 - $20.00 DOE (plus 20% shift differential)

Ability to work overtime during the week and Saturdays as needed

RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Controls heat treating furnaces to alter the properties of selected materials.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Verify that lot cards have all previous operations signed off.
  • Place parts on racks, in trays, or baskets and place them on conveyor or loads them directly into furnace.
  • Perform hardness checks as per work instructions.
  • Adjust furnace controls to heat parts to prescribed time and temperature.
  • Operate furnaces, draw ovens, pit draws, and any other related equipment.
  • Parts are quenched within furnace and then removed after prescribed time.
  • Records time that parts are removed from furnace.
  • Unloads racks, baskets, washer hearth bars, rollers, and heat shields.
  • Replaces above and set up for next load.
  • Complete all assigned P.M.’s and daily checklists.
  • Area is to be kept in a neat and orderly manner.

 

EDUCATION &/ OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
  • Basic mathematical and strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Able to be fork truck certified.
  • Confined Space training is necessary.
