Position Title: Heat Treat and Plating Operator (Union – IUE-CWA Local 14430)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Setup, operate and adjust plating lines.
Heat treats production parts using heat treating equipment
Process parts in heat treat ovens and quench tanks according to work instructions
Adjust, set up and operate heat treat equipment (furnaces)
Record times that parts are removed from furnaces to document that objects have attained specified temperatures for specific times
Adjust controls to maintain temperatures and heating times, using thermal instruments and charts, dials, and gauges of furnaces.
Perform quality checks of products and assure good product.
Read prints and routings
Operator pallet jackets and other material handling devices.
Follow established machine settings and parameters
Perform preventative maintenance on machines
Perform 5s activities within the cell.

Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds

Visual acuity to determine the accuracy and thoroughness of product and/or parts
Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles
Frequent exposure to moderate to heavy noise
The ability to wear proper personal protective equipment, including earplugs, safety glasses, safety shoes, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Must have 3 years experience in Heat Treat or Plating.
Must be able to work any shift
Ability to use precision instruments
Lean and 5s experience
Knowledge of plating processes and production lines preferred. Use decimals, fractions and shop mathematics.
Mechanical aptitude with the various types of tools used in the machining process
