Job Overview:
JOB SUMMARY
The Harvest General Forman is responsible for overseeing daily harvest operations to ensure production, safety, food safety, regulatory, processing, and compliance is being achieved. This position has all harvest supervisors as direct reports, and hourly team members indirectly reporting. This position is responsible for assisting supervisors with their development and commitment with a continuous improvement mindset.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Direct and coordinate all harvest floor operations to meet daily production schedules and yields.
- Monitor staffing levels and support / work with supervisors in moving crewing as needed
- Ensure all equipment is operational with upper management and maintenance
- Drive productivity improvements and engage the workforce.
- Monitor floor KPIs and work with supervisors to achieve their goals
- Participate in required meetings as necessary
- Ensure all employees and food safety compliance is met every day
- Promote a safe and quality environment
- Ability to make sound decisions that are in the best interest of the company
- Address management and employee concerns methodically and respectfully
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Meat Industry experience required
- Working knowledge of the entire Harvest process
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to present ideas, concepts, issues, concerns, and questions in a well thought out, positive, and professional manner
- Ability to foster an atmosphere of teamwork and respect
- Functional with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficient in reading, speaking, writing English
- Clear communication skills – verbally and in written form.
- Bilingual preferred
- Ability to coach and develop others into becoming better employees
- Leadership skills such as but not limited to conflict resolution, encouraging others and inspiring good work
- Ability to take direction humbly and collaborate in order to define and pursue team goals
- A positive outlook and attitude in taking initiative and problem solving, unprompted
PYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Able to work in a hot or cold environment
- Exposure to large machinery and loud noises
- Standing for more than 6 hours a day
- Lift/push/pull over 75#
- Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, walk
