BASIC PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the GSE Technicians keeps track of all GSE and Motorized equipment, preventative maintenance, repair and upkeep. He/She is responsible for facility compressors, maintenance and upkeep. The GSE Technician is to present a weekly report to the Facility on the condition and status of all GSE, motorized equipment and air compressors. They are responsible for identifying and ordering parts required to maintain equipment. |
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews daily the status of parts/materials required to keep operations on schedule
- Be proficient with repair and upkeep of diesel and gas powered equipment
- Troubleshoot and maintain GSE as not to interrupt operational requirements
- Be capable of repair and upkeep on electrical equipment and generators, as well as 400 cycle equipment
- Keep track of and update when necessary the technical Library for GSE/Equipment
- Understand and accomplish welding and structural repairs as necessary
- Work with the operational staff to ensure GSE/Equipment is maintained to the highest possible standards for operational reliability and safety
- Ensure no GSE/Equipment is unsafe to operate
- Be proficient with company policy for tagging out equipment and company work orders for repairs
- Maintain a safe working environment at all times
- Strive for continuous improvement in execution and delivery of work, always maintaining a sense of urgency.
- Support the Manager with other business activities as needed.

DIMENSIONS:
NATURE AND SCOPE: This job requires continuous monitoring of equipment, preventative maintenance schedules and parts required for upkeep and operational readiness. Coordination of GSE/Equipment maintenance with the Facility Manager is mandatory to prevent any interruptions with operational requirements. Must possess mechanics tools. |
The scope of this role is to ensure that GSE/Equipment is operational and ready for use at all times on a daily basis. |
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
EDUCATION: High School Diploma required, Associate Degree or technical certification preferred. Specific equipment schools are helpful but not necessary. EXPERIENCE: minimum of 3 years maintenance experience with GSE/Ground Equipment, Diesel/Gas powered, tugs and tow motors, generators, 400 cycle equipment and air start carts, as well as public street vehicles. KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: - Proficient Computer user with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Good written and oral communication skills in order to effectively interact with all levels of staff from different departments effectively.
- Excellent organizational skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS: - Must be able to lift, push, and pull objects weighing 70 lbs.
- Requires frequent walking, standing, and/or climbing.
- Expected to work through specially designed air frame, engine and undercarriage openings while standing on ladders or scaffolds; to use hoists and lifts; required precision instruments and other necessary tools.
- Exposure to climate changes normally experienced in an aviation repair facility.
- Travel may be required to perform off-site service, training or other assigned duties.
- Position may require working on weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts or schedules to include night shifts.
- The work is performed in the hangars, ramp or GSE shop.
