Leader**- Listen and support operators and Team Leads to optimize their commitment and involvement in improvement.
Support and perform “leader standard work” scheduled audits.
Notify supervisor of any non- standard issues with production or personnel.
Assist with supervision and team members in continuous improvement (PPS activities).
Maintain, audit and improve departmental 5-S standards.
Maintain, audit and improve operator standard work.
Meet departmental goals and objectives (KPIs) that contribute to overall company goals.
Facilitate and lead daily departmental meetings (5 to 10 min.).
Attend daily Team Center meeting with Operations Manager (5 to 15 min.)
Communicate effectively with individuals up, down and across the organization.
Check call ins/adjust labor plan as necessary.
Attend regularly scheduled Gemba walks with supervisor and/or continuous improvement (kaizen) team.
Work with Team Leader to develop next day’s labour plan and prep for next days meeting.
Maintain takt boards are filled out properly by (owner) operator.
Verify, monitor and respond to information (flow interrupters) on the departmental takt board(s) for corrective action to get back on schedule.
Effective operator “fill-In” of work (25% of shift time) when a team member is absent or must leave the workstation in an emergency
When (above issue) is the case, the TL of a neighboring team covers both teams.
When absent, the TL is replaced by the next most competent Operator.
Works shifts for overall leadership, teamwork and direction of department.
Qualifications:- Associate’s degree (preferably in a business, technical or chemical) preferred.
Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred but not required
Minimum of 3 to 10 years of successful production supervision experience required
Computer systems knowledge including experience with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TQM and/or ISO is preferred.
Resourceful problem solver with proven ability to bring quick resolution to challenging situations.
Team player with ability to build lasting productive business relationships with hourly associates, management, and peers.
Ability to effectively communicate information both verbally and in writing
Experience:- 2 or more years of experience in a manufacturing environment with increasing levels of responsibility and leadership
Knowledge:- Computer skills with working knowledge of Word and Excel.
Thorough understanding of department process.
Working knowledge of basic safety policies and procedures.
Problem solving basic knowledge.
Blueprint reading.
Lean Manufacturing knowledge a plus
