JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for maintaining high production, quality, and yields while ensuring the safest working environment possible for the ground beef department. This position requires an essential understanding and control of the Ground Beef production process, human and food safety, and customer expectations. The Superintendent will be expected to continuously develop, and mentor the direct supervisor and Team Members using a continuous improvement mentality and will work to perpetuate a “Creekstone Proud culture through attitude and actions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide leadership and operational direction for the department which includes one supervisor and thirty hourly team members.
- Responsible for developing a production strategy and future planning mindset regarding preparation, and packaging of all ground beef products.
- Work with the supervisor and team members to ensure a safe working environment and encourage an open-door policy for safety and food safety concerns to be brough forth to management.
- Ensure that all processing activities are in compliance with product specifications.
- Responsible for collaborating with leaders in other departments with effective communication in other areas of operations and sales.
- Responsible for effective and professional communication with external customers.
- Is responsible for delegating new information and items effectively to the team regarding production and specifications.
- Responsible for all Profit/loss and overall management of Ground Beef.
- Ensure effective employee relations. Provides employee coaching and development.
- Contributes to employment decisions and work with HR with employee relations.
- Oversee training/ cross training of assigned staff, appraises performance and initiates discipline process.
- Planning, budgeting, goal setting, and reporting for all aspects of Ground Beef department.
- Manage and maintain all production areas: bone extrusion, grinding, case ready fresh and frozen patty, loaf, and chub forming, and packaging.
- Safety equipment development.
- Verifies labor hours and payroll report accuracy.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Excellent mathematical skills
- Prior supervisory experience and leadership skills in a food manufacturing environment.
- Beef plant experience and bilingual Spanish and English preferred.
- Knowledge of ground beef, E. coli 0157:h7 testing methods, and F.S.I.S. requirements preferred.
- Experience working with a diverse group of people.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Climbing occasionally, stooping occasionally, crouching occasionally, standing for 8 or more hours per day, walking frequently, pushing frequently, pulling frequently, gasping frequently, repetitive motions frequently, lifting: 0 – 100#, wear necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) – hard hat, safety-toe boots, safety goggles, hair/beard net, etc.
