Job Overview:

 

  1. Must be able to strip materials using steel shot, grit, Aluminum Oxide or other agent. 

     

  2. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and finishing specifications as they relate to finishing Steel Fab products.
  3. Must be able to blast interior and exterior of product to specific profiles.

 

  1. Must be able to enter tanks through man way and blast inside of tanks as required.
  2. Proper usage and maintenance of respiratory equipment.

 

  1. Must replenish the abrasive hopper when necessary.

 

  1. Must be able to remove exhausted blasting agent from blasting room.

 

  1. Will use various safety equipment related to blasting applications.

 

  1. Material handling – safe operation of cranes, hoists, and forklifts as needed.  Also successfully complete any training/safety program relating to the operation of the equipment.

 

  1. Will be able to properly complete applicable paperwork associated with this classification.
  2. Knowledge of and compliance with all safety and environmental requirements regarding blasting agents, their application and disposal. 
  3. Work with foreman and safety director to ensure all safety and environmental regulations are followed.
  4. Job may require handling or moving of hazardous waste.
  5. Knowledge of Global Harmonization System.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

 

  1. Respirator, blasting hood and other personal safety equipment
  2. Pressure pots / Agitator mechanisms
  3. All applicable pneumatic and electric power tools
  4. All applicable hand tools
  5. Mill Thickness Gauge        
  6. Blasting equipment, blower, shaker, and various related machinery.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

Good oral communication skills, 1 year experience in a like environment, or a minimum of 1 year post high school education in a related field.

 

  1. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret receiving related documents.  Ability to write reports and correspondence related to receiving.  Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and other employees of the organization. 

 

  1. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry.

 

  1. Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.  .
