Position Overview

Surface Engineering is seeking a dependable, safety-minded Blast Operator to prepare parts for grit blasting and help ensure they meet our quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who works well with their hands, follows instructions carefully, and takes pride in producing quality work. No prior experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and properly mask parts in preparation for grit blasting.
• Read and follow drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Use dial indicators, scales, and other measuring devices to inspect parts and accurately record results.
• Operate lathes, forklifts, overhead cranes, hand tools, and other equipment as required.
• Complete production and quality paperwork accurately and on time.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment and follow established safety practices.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
• Follow established Quality Management System procedures.
• Assist other departments as needed.
• Perform other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• No previous experience required.
• Ability to read and understand work instructions.
• Basic understanding of measuring devices.
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
• Willingness to learn and follow company safety and quality procedures.

Physical Requirements

This position frequently requires standing, reaching, repetitive hand movements, fine coordination, and the use of hand tools and machinery. The employee must be able to frequently lift or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 60 pounds. The role may also require occasional walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus are required.
