Rockfon is seeking a Production Supervisor, based on-site at our Chicago facility, as part of our Rockfon Production team. This position reports to the Director of Manufacturing.

Pay: $70,000 to $90,000

Job Purpose

The Production Supervisor is responsible for cost effective manufacturing of Grid products consistent with required quality standards, safe work practices, effective housekeeping and maintaining compliance with personnel policies. The position will schedule production, and assign tasks to all Operators, Production Lead Persons and Set-up. The Supervisor will monitor production and drive the continuous improvement process to improve operating efficiency and product quality.

Key Result Areas

  • Provide leadership and direction for the activities of the assigned Operations group to safely achieve production goals within cost standards.
  • Coordinate production to meet customer demands ensuring that products are made safely, have high quality and are delivered on time.
  • Provide an accident free workplace; maintain a safe work environment and ensure behavioral safety initiatives are completed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Train and manage a production staff of up to 30 employees.
  • Provide direct supervision to Operators, Set-up and the Material Handlers and complete employees annual performance review.
  • Responsible for employee scheduling and time keeping, administering employee correct action as needed, and participates in hiring process.
  • Review SAP generated production plan; adjust based on inventory levels, current orders, machine changeovers & personnel availability as needed.
  • Assist Operators with data input into the SAP through Mii system, review production data input and correct errors.
  • Review SAP Mii downtime reports to determine and eliminate most frequent causes of lost OEE. Analyze various production reports to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate with other shift supervisors to ensure smooth shift transition.
  • Maintain a clean organized work area by following all 6-S rules and department housekeeping procedures.
  • Work cross functionally with other associates as a team to ensure efficient execution of departmental goals, particularly the engineering, maintenance, tool room, shipping and the Planning functions.
  • Promote and ensure a safe work environment and environmental compliance. Includes performing accident investigations in a timely manner, and engages his / her team in creating a safe work environment.
  • Apply lean manufacturing best practices and drive continuous improvement with people and processes.
  • Support Material handler with inventory, receiving, and quality checks for Base Metal and capping.
  • Provide support to other functions in the plant organization where needed.
  • Responsible for the facility opening and/or closing.
  • Other job duties as required.
