Under the general direction of the Plant Manager, the Production Supervisor will be responsible for coordinating production operating activities and supervision of a granite quarrying operation. The Supervisor is responsible for day-to-day activities with plant personnel to achieve the highest level of production, efficiency, housekeeping, and safety while meeting goals set forth in the business and profit plans.
Position based in Snyder, OK.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Responsible for direct supervision of an hourly workforce in plant areas including production, maintenance and quarry related duties.
  • Assists the Plant Manager with scheduling and timing of repairs to equipment.
  • Assists the Plant Manager in implementing and managing the preventative maintenance programs for Plant.
  • Monitors the Plant operations on a daily basis to ensure that production and QC standards are being maintained and takes corrective action when deficiencies occur.
  • Ensures all personnel under their supervision comply with Federal, State and Company safety rules and regulation through periodic inspections of plant machinery, equipment, personal activities and working conditions.
  • Develops and nurtures empowered/self-directed work teams in all phases of the operation.
  • Selects, trains, and develops production, distribution and maintenance personnel under their supervision-appraise performance of subordinates and takes/recommends appropriate personnel actions as necessary.
  • Conducts annual reviews with employees, and review and evaluate employee performance and recommend merit increases.
  • Administers when necessary positive and/or progressive disciplinary action.
  • Purchases or directs the purchase of supplies and equipment in accordance with company policies
  • Coordinates with the Plant Manager, the needed staffing to properly and safely operate the plant.
  • Ensures continual development of employees through training, cross training and other development tools.
  • Generates profit plans, AFEs, market analyses and special reports for the approval of the Plant Manager
  • Must adhere to all Company policies and practices including ethics, safety, and business confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Degree in Mining or related field preferred.
  • 3 years supervisory experience in manufacturing, mining, aggregates, lime, or related industry
  • Experience in Crushing and Shipping operations.
  • Knowledgeable in MSHA regulations and compliance.
  • Proficient computer skills; JDE experience a plus.
  • Strong organizational and budgeting skills.
  • Understand all components of plant and departmental cost and production.
  • Be willing to prepare for future growth potentials within plant and company.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to sit, stand, stoop, and bend for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours.)
  • Walk on all types of surfaces (uneven and/or slippery ground)
  • Lift up to 50lbs
  • Physical ability to climb on equipment
  • Must be able to use proper Personal Protective Equipment as required
  • Must be able to lift and carry heavy items using proper lifting techniques and/or equipment
  • Drive automobile to various plant sites and work locations.
  • Climb stairs and ladders as high as 350 feet in elevation
  • Must be able to walk long distances, climb ladders, stairs, and stockpiles, stoop, and crawl under and into enclosed spaces
  • Ability to see and hear safety indicators and warnings.
  • Ability to work in surroundings that include heat, dust, vibration, heights and confined spaces.
  • Must work in all weather conditions: heat, cold, wet, dry and/or dusty conditions
  • Will have exposure to all levels of noise that require use of hearing protection
  • Will have exposure to dust, cement, clay, gypsum, sand, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Works in all weather conditions including heat, cold, ice, rain and in high humidity and is required to work in all plant environments. Incumbent will be exposed to vibrating equipment and mechanical and electrical hazards and heights. May have exposure to dust, cement, clay, gypsum, sand, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, various fuels, etc. (See MSDS’s). Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 90 dbs.
