Job Summary/Purpose:

Maintain the infrastructure and utility systems within the Facility. The individual will be responsible for all Utilities and Infrastructure maintenance issues and will have close interaction with all site departments and other functional management. Promote and implement the highest level of customer service internally.

Starting wage $37.40/hr

Essential Responsibilities

Participate/support the RMP (Risk Management Process) and assist in the development of the system and operational standards and corrective actions.
Shift technician for utilities and infrastructure maintenance
Maintain completion of PM’s
Work with outside contractors on projects related to facilities and utilities repairs, modifications, and installations.
Follow up with skilled staff and contract labor to ensure all work is that is scheduled, and completed according to established timelines
Provide proactive communication and viable solutions to site departments and other functional management about problems and complications
Assist facility landscaping requirements / snow removal
Maintain compliance with company policies, safety standards and good housekeeping practices

Work within the scope of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) program and compliance
Evaluate and discuss changes with the Facility Utilities Supervisor and implement changes as needed
Training and Safety – Provide a safe and healthful work environment for all personnel through consistent support of the company’s Heinz Safety Process. Oversee safety processes including, but not limited to, goal setting, hazard recognition, and elimination, administration of safety procedures and corresponding corrective action, area inspection, job skills, and compliance training, accident investigation and safety meetings.
Interprets company policies to workers and enforces policies and safety regulations.
Must be able to work flexible hours; days, afternoons, midnights, overtime and weekends as necessary.

As necessary, other duties and/or projects may be assigned.

Education and Experience

Two-year degree or certificate from college or technical school or at least 5-7 years’ school and experience combined in dedicated industrial Utilities Maintenance, Ammonia Refrigeration, Boilers, Waste Water, and Air Compressors principles in a manufacturing environment.
Ammonia Operator/HAZWOPER certification highly desirable.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Electrical power distribution
Ammonia Refrigeration experience highly desirable- HC HVAC at a minimum.
Compressed air
Boilers, de-aeration, steam treatment
Waste water treatment
HVAC including air filtration
Building infrastructure, piping, and drains
Ability to manage and organize multiple tasks and projects
Ability to react positively to changes in priorities
Computer literate, ability to learn new software programs
Demonstrated ability to understand the technical details of utility systems
Ability to develop technical solutions to problems and system failures
Demonstrated ability to sequence tasks to accomplish work
Communication with site departments leaders and management about utility problems and complications
Reports to the Utilities Supervisor
Self starter. Plans and accomplishes work with minimal supervision
Highly resilient to varying workloads and requests for service
Highly motivated to find solutions that improve utilities and facilities
Demonstrate reliability and good work ethics, quality work performance, attention to detail is a must, and maintain a good working relationship with all other departments.
Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
Ability to multitask and work in a team oriented fast-paced environment.
Excellent interpersonal, and organizational skills and must be detail and process oriented.
Willingness to grow with the organization.
Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment and be able to identify and solve problems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential as this position will be interacting with various departments within the company
Must have basic computer skills.

Physical/Mental Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
Ability to use hands/arms to reach, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls.
Ability to work in all areas of the facility including hot and cold areas, and be exposed to wet and humid conditions.
Must be able to lift and or move up to 50 lbs or more.
Must have excellent vision, distant and peripheral, with the ability to identify and distinguish colors, and adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually high, and ear protection is required.
May work near moving mechanical parts, high and/or confining places and in outside weather conditions.
