POSITION SUMMARY

The Global Quality Manager's primary responsibility is to establish, implement, and maintain a global quality management system (QMS) that ensures products and services meet or exceed customer and regulatory requirements for the Aerospace & Composites industry. This involves leading teams, conducting audits, developing strategies, and driving continuous improvement across various global locations. The initial focus is to help Web Industries build an Aerospace Grade Culture through the design and deployment of standardized quality processes, analytical methods, and systems, then using the appropriate internal audits and assessment processes to validate system effectiveness and progression.  Establish a proactive business impact by integrating the voice of the customer into quality strategy, continuous improvement, and the realization of a zero defect culture.

The Global Quality Manager leads the quality staff in a way to foster a company culture that models Web Industries’ principles and values. This includes building healthy, constructive relationships with their team, customers, suppliers, and other company stakeholders. This requires communication, coaching, mentoring, and motivating employees around operational excellence.

 

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Support the development and execution of Web Industries’ Advanced Composites Aerospace Global Quality Strategy            
  • Establish standardized quality processes and analytical methods modeling Aerospace Best Practices and AS9100 (ISO) 
  • Develop detailed data analysis and action plans related to customer quality performance including Voice of the Customer       
  • Identify and evaluate potential adverse impacts on products, systems and services.  Lead resolution of problems, solution development, and execution.   
  • Assist in performing contract reviews for new customer proposals in order to assure incorporation of quality requirements into planning. (Qualifications, audits, NPI)?       
  • Responsible for functional, professional, and organizational development of the Aerospace Quality organization  
  • Facilitate and direct Six Sigma Projects and activities using the DMAIC Process, D-FMEA, and P-FMEA methods for continuous improvement and mistake-proofing         
  • Deploy methods such as statistical studies, process capability, ANOVA Gage R&R studies to identify and reduce variation and non-conforming elements.       
  • Develop and maintain an audit system to monitor compliance to the Aerospace QMS,   customer requirements, regulatory requirements, and ISO/AS requirements           
  • Develop strong working relationships with internal and external cross-functional teams to drive quality-centric continuous improvement at all levels of the organization             
  • Develop strong working relationships with all customers and suppliers 
  • Demonstrate progress by tracking appropriate quality performance metrics in line with the tactical actions and trends against the long-term quality strategy.            
  • Fosters and maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures.  
  • Coordinate with HR to ensure effective individual development plans, performance management, policy clarification, employee recognition events, and in dealing with employee-related issues.  
    • Recommend and execute personnel actions including hiring, promotions, and any progressive disciplinary measures
    • Identify/coordinate training needs for employees, as required             
  • Communicate, coach, mentor, and motivate people around vision, values, and strategy; delegate ‘ownership’ of projects to individuals and teams.            
  • Build/sustain a smart and healthy organization that fosters Web’s values and culture.               
  • Performs other function or responsibility as assigned        

 

Additional REQUIRED Qualifications/Skills:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering
  • A minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in Aerospace Quality and or Engineering organizations
  • Experience leading AS9100 in a manufacturing environment
  • A professional certification (ASQ-CQE/CQM) are strongly desired
  • Knowledge of FAA regulations, ISO and AS9100 quality standard requirements
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency in corrective action processes and root cause investigation/analysis
  • Demonstrated leadership as part of a cross-functional plant management team
  • Sound planning and organizational skills
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office, ERP, Quality, and HR systems

 

Additional PREFERRED Qualifications/Skills:  

Black Belt or Lean Expert certification preferred

Proficiency with current AS9100 quality standards and systems

Leadership Skills

-              Can adapt to challenging and changing situations

-              Able to engage employees at every level during change

-              Use of change management tools e.g. Kotter

Business Acumen & Financial Responsibility

-              Understanding of cost of poor quality and total system cost

-              Full understanding of financial implications of poor quality

Strong technical skills including

-              Knowledge of converting flexible materials and advanced composites

-              Computer skills including Microsoft Office and ERP system

-              SPC, ISO/AS9100, FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, LEAN

Excellent communication and organizational skills

Proficiency in handling multiple concurrent deliverables and projects

This position has significant contact with clients, suppliers, and community members

Travel (30-40%) for managing QMS at multiple sites, customer meetings, supplier audits and corporate events
