Job Overview:

Glass Cutter – Precision Manufacturing

We are seeking a Glass Cutter to join a precision manufacturing team supporting the production of fused quartz components. This hands-on position is responsible for cutting and sizing quartz tubing, rod, and plate according to work orders, drawings, and dimensional specifications.

This is a measurement- and equipment-focused role requiring accuracy, patience, and careful material handling. Because quartz is brittle and can chip or crack when handled improperly, successful candidates will be methodical and focused on getting measurements and cuts right the first time.

This position can also be a strong entry point for someone interested in developing additional skills within a specialized glass manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Cut fused quartz tubing, rod, and plate to specified dimensions using saws and other cutting equipment.

  • Read and interpret work orders, drawings, measurements, and dimensional specifications.

  • Measure and verify material dimensions before and after cutting.

  • Set up and adjust cutting equipment based on job requirements.

  • Change, align, and maintain cutting blades as needed.

  • Inspect finished cuts for dimensional accuracy, squareness, chips, cracks, and other defects.

  • Safely handle, stage, and move fragile quartz materials, including larger tubing and plate.

  • Record production and material activity using an ERP or production tracking system.

  • Manage coolant and cutting slurry associated with wet-cutting operations.

  • Clean cutting equipment and maintain an organized workstation at the end of each shift.

  • Follow established safety procedures and wear required PPE, including eye protection.

Qualifications

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred; approximately 2–3 years is ideal, although candidates with less experience and strong mechanical or hands-on aptitude are encouraged to apply.

  • Comfortable using precision measuring tools such as calipers, scales, and tape measures.

  • Ability to work accurately to specified dimensions and tolerances.

  • Ability to read work orders, basic drawings, and manufacturing specifications.

  • Basic math skills for measurements and dimensional calculations.

  • Basic computer skills for production and material data entry.

  • Ability to safely operate around saws and industrial cutting equipment.

  • Strong attention to detail and a patient, methodical approach to work.

  • Basic English communication skills required; Vietnamese language skills are a plus.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.

  • Ability to regularly lift, move, and maneuver materials weighing 50 lbs or more.

  • Comfortable working in a production-floor environment with industrial noise.

  • Comfortable working around wet-cutting operations, coolant, and cutting slurry.

  • Ability to safely handle fragile materials that may chip or crack if improperly handled.

  • Required PPE must be worn while performing production work.

Training Provided

On-the-job training will be provided for:

  • Specific cutting equipment and machine setups.

  • Blade selection, changing, and alignment.

  • Proper handling and cutting techniques for fused quartz.

  • Internal drawings, tolerances, and quality standards.

  • Production paperwork and job traveler procedures.

  • ERP data entry and material tracking processes.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

The strongest candidates are steady, precise, safety-conscious, and detail-oriented. Quality is more important than rushing through a cut. This position is well suited to someone who takes the time to measure carefully, follows specifications consistently, and understands the importance of minimizing scrap when working with valuable, fragile material.

No specific certifications or licenses are required to start.

Growth Opportunity

This position is part of a specialized glass manufacturing department and can provide exposure to additional skilled manufacturing processes. Employees who demonstrate strong capability, quality, consistency, and productivity may have opportunities to develop into more advanced work within the department.
