Position Overview
A growing engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer / Project Engineer
to manage and deliver geotechnical engineering projects from proposal through final report delivery. The role involves geotechnical investigations, engineering analysis, construction recommendations, project management, and client coordination across commercial, municipal, transportation, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
Candidates with experience in construction materials testing, special inspections, and construction-phase QA/QC support are strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare geotechnical reports, technical memoranda, and engineering recommendations.
Plan and coordinate subsurface investigations, drilling activities, sampling, and laboratory testing.
Perform analyses related to:
Review boring logs, lab data, and geologic/site information.
Provide construction-phase geotechnical consultation and field support.
Manage project budgets, schedules, proposals, scopes, and client communication.
Coordinate with drillers, contractors, field technicians, inspectors, architects, and engineers.
Mentor junior engineers and review technical work for quality control.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering.
Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
Minimum 5 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
Strong experience preparing geotechnical reports and construction recommendations.
Knowledge of ASTM, AASHTO, IBC, ASCE 7, ACI, and Colorado geotechnical practices.
Experience with foundations, pavements, retaining walls, earthwork, and expansive soils.
Strong project management and client communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Colorado P.E. license or ability to obtain by comity.
Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
7+ years of geotechnical experience.
Experience with Colorado Front Range soils and groundwater conditions.
Experience with construction materials testing, QA/QC, and special inspections.
Familiarity with CDOT standards and pavement design.
Experience mentoring junior staff and supporting business development.
