Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Generator Installer/Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing residential and commercial standby generators. Generac certification or hands-on experience with Generac generators is highly preferred.
This position requires a motivated individual with strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills who is committed to providing exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Install residential and commercial standby generator systems.
- Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled service.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical issues on generators.
- Troubleshoot transfer switches, control panels, batteries, fuel systems, and engine components.
- Commission newly installed generators and verify proper operation.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Perform load bank testing and startup procedures.
- Maintain accurate service records and work orders.
- Ensure compliance with all OSHA and electrical safety standards.
- Communicate professionally with customers regarding repairs and maintenance recommendations.
- Maintain company vehicle, tools, and equipment.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of generator installation or repair experience preferred.
- Generac experience or certification strongly preferred.
- Experience with Kohler, Cummins, Briggs & Stratton, or Caterpillar generators is also a plus.
- Knowledge of residential and commercial electrical systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot engine and electrical control systems.
- Familiarity with automatic transfer switches (ATS).
- Ability to read blueprints and electrical diagrams.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
Preferred Certifications
- Generac Certified Technician
- Generac Certified Installer
- Electrical License (if applicable)
- EPA Certification (preferred but not required)
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 75 pounds.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Climb ladders and work in confined spaces as needed.
- Stand, bend, kneel, and walk for extended periods.
