Fluid & Metering Technologies Segment

Our Fluid & Metering Technologies (FMT) businesses design and manufacture a range of fluid handling products – including pumps, valves, and flow meters – that are essential to fluid management in industries such as agriculture, chemicals, and energy. Summary Role Overview

The General Manager, Viking Pump leads a global ~$250M business and is accountable for driving sustainable profitable growth, strong operational performance, and long-term value creation aligned with FMT and enterprise priorities. This leader guides a portfolio of pumping technologies, including internal gear, external gear, vane, and lobe, as well as the parts, kits, and accessories that support customers around the world.

Viking Pump serves customers in demanding industrial, energy, and hygienic markets. These include chemicals, polyurethane foam, asphalt, oil transfer, glycol dehydration, biopharma, food, and beverage. The business is known for delivering reliable liquid transfer solutions for applications that range from thin fluids to highly viscous materials. With ~500 employees globally, this role is based in Cedar Falls, Iowa where Viking Pump’s operations are headquartered. The business also operates in Windsor, Canada; Shannon, Ireland; and Eastbourne, England; with additional manufacturing production in India and China.

Responsibilities:

  • Own full P&L performance and deliver revenue growth, margin expansion, and operational results aligned to business commitments

  • Develop and execute a multi-year growth strategy aligned to enterprise priorities, translating strategy into clear priorities, operating plans, and focused investment against the “critical few” initiatives

  • Identify and capture growth opportunities across customers, markets, and products including new product innovation, customer experience enhancements, and digital- or service-based solutions

  • Communicate a clear vision and ensure alignment across the leadership team, the Viking Pump team, and broader IDEX enterprise

  • Drive commercial excellence through clear segmentation, pricing, channel strategy, and disciplined execution of a defined product and innovation roadmap aligned to customer needs

  • Build and maintain senior-level customer relationships, positioning Viking Pump as a strategic partner and translating customer insights into differentiated solutions and growth

  • Lead disciplined execution of growth and productivity initiatives leveraging the IDEX Operating Model and 8020 principles

  • Ensure strong operational performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity

  • Optimize capital deployment and operational footprint, including make vs. buy decisions, to align investments with the highest return opportunities

  • Build and lead a high-performing leadership team, ensuring strong talent in critical roles and a robust pipeline of ready-now and ready-next leaders

  • Foster a culture of accountability, trust, and high performance aligned with company values, ensuring accountability for both results and how they are achieved

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred

  • 12+ years of progressive leadership experience with accountability for business performance, including P&L ownership in a global industrial or engineered products environment

  • Experience leading complex, multi-site or global operations

  • Demonstrated track record of driving profitable growth, commercial expansion, and operational improvement in competitive markets

  • Strong financial acumen with the ability to manage and optimize full P&L performance

  • Experience driving product innovation, customer experience improvement, or digital-enabled transformation (including connected products or service-based models) is preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to build, develop, and lead high-performing teams
